Lenovo Ideapad 5 15itl05 Touchpad Driver Missing

2021-05-13, 20:37 PM

Hi,

I purchased yesterday a brand new Lenovo Ideapad 5 15itl05, when I updated my driver (also via DriverBooster)

suddenly my mouse pointer dissappeared, since then, I cannot use the TouchPad AT ALL, only by plugging a USB mouse.

Been trying almost EVERYTHING, 2 times formatted windows, updated driver to BIOS, WIN, Elan, Synaptics, and I cannot get my TouchPad in use again.

I'm pretty fraustrated by that....

How can I get it in use back again?

it happened I think less than an hour use after taking it out of the package.

Hello ariel2k2k,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Thank you for initiating a post. Please try to check if the compliant touchpad driver is still present in your device manager. Go to Device Manager, click on View then click Show Hidden Devices. Find the Human Interface Devices, select it to collapse a list of drivers. Look for hid-compliant touchpad if this is still present or if it has any error signs. Add a screenshot in your response here what it looks like.

You can try to reload the BIOS to defaults and check if the touchpad would be enabled. Don't forget to tap on F6 (Fn+F6) key as this enables or disables the touchpad.

Perform a static discharge/power cycle
- Make sure there is still remaining battery power, able to power up the machine.
- Disconnect all cables and/or peripheral devices connected to the machine (ex. power cable, hdmi cable, external mouse/keyboard, flashdrives, etc).
- Ensure that device is powered/switched off.
- Press and hold down the power button for as long as 60 seconds to drain flea power or excess voltage.

Perform/load BIOS defaults
- Make sure that the machine is properly powered down/switched off.
- Find the Novo Button. How a Novo button should look like: https://support.lenovo.com/us/fr/solutions/ht062552
- Access/click this by using an unfolded paperclip or by using something similar to the latter.
- Machine will power up to Novo Menu. Navigate and select using the arrow keys to BIOS Set Up.
- Inside the BIOS Set Up, navigate to the Exit Menu. Select Load Setup Default - click Enter, select YES and click Enter.
- Select Exit and Save Changes then click Enter, select YES and click Enter.
- The computer will start up.

Update us how it goes.

Regards.

Tried resetting windows again using the NOVO Button - no success, I get that it isn't related to windows but to bad / non-existant drivers.

Can you maybe point me to the precise drivers of that model?

Hi ariel2k2k,

Thank you for getting back in the thread.

Please try to initiate running a diagnostics scan to your machine as this would help us identify any kind of hardware failure that is responsible for the issue. Please include the scan results in your response for us to see.

Can you please try as well to boot the machine in safe mode, check if the touchpad would work in this point.

Also, please share the machine type model / MTM (ex. 81C70000RK) from the sticker as it would help us detail more about your machine variant. The machine type model / MTM consists of more than four characters.

Update us soon as convenient.

Regards.

Hi, these are the test results:

+

Tried booting safe-mode - touchpad isn't working.

Cannot even find it (HID-compliant touchpad) on Device-Manager.

Hi ariel2k2k,

Have you checked as well if the touchpad cursor would work as well in BIOS? This step is to check for any hardware issue.

Regards.

I dont see any curser in BIOS, not even using my wireless mouse:

The Touchpad was working just fine when I got the computer yesterday, less than an hour, WHILE updating drivers using Driver Booster by IOBIT

my curser dissappeard, when I couldn't fix it I tried reinstalling win10.

After reinstalling I checked on Device Manager weather I have HID-compliant touchpad, and I did have it under hidden item.

I tried removing (right click > remove device) it by thinking that it would give an option to reinstall which now I know it isn't.
