Lenovo Ideapad 5

First Post,

Hey people,

 

I am unfortunately posting because my brand new Ideapad 5 has issues. The bottom of the screen has white blotches. I purchased the computer 2 months ago but have only been using it for the last week. 

 

Noticed the white blotches while watching a movie in full screen so the task bar is gone. Really noticeable and disappointing. 

 

I unfortunately ordered directly from Lenovo so likely have to ship the computer back for service. I would really just like a new machine or my money back. My crummy old Acer never had any problems or 

 

screen issues. I need a computer immediately for work so this is really putting me out. Anyone else had issues with their screen? I will have to purchase a new computer because I have to send back my 

 

brand new Lenovo for repairs that should have been spotted by quality control.

I wanted to post that Lenovo agreed to resolve the issue with my computer. I am happy to say that they addressed situation.

Sorry to read this happened to your machine but it would seem this as an isolated event since I don't noticed such reported in the board by fellow Community users.

 

I am sure that the tech support team would remedy the event as soon as they can.

I opened a repair ticket yesterday and checked on it today and it says "resolved". Nothing has been resolved! I'm regretting choosing Lenovo. I did a lot of research before buying the product but am 

 

disappointed that a brand new machine has issues right out of the factory. Quality control should have picked this up.

So I tried to get the problem with the computer repaired and Lenovo sent a technician to my house. The technician left me with a brand new computer in pieces, scratched, cracked screen, the wrong parts sent. 

I've requested a replacement computer or a refund to no avail.

So I am now having to go purchase a new computer(not Lenovo) and move on. 

Absolutely the worst experience I have had with an laptop purchase. I should have chosen another brand. Very disappointing.

@spidey101 I found other threads with complaints about the same problem. It is not an isolated case regarding the white blotches at the bottom of the screen. Search you own forum and you'll find others with the same problem.

Lenovo replaced the unit. The second unit had the same flares in the screen and the touch pad didn't work. They replaced the second unit. The third unit has the white flares in the screen also. The flares in the screen must be a universal issue with Lenovo slim units. I am grateful that they made attempts to address the issue. But I gave up after 3rd unit BC it appears they will all have the white flares in the screen.

The third unit is working great other than the flares. I think these screens are so thin that the casing puts pressure on the screen causing the flares.
