Lenovo Ideapad 700-15ISK 80RU BIOS Password

2017-12-15, 19:49 PM

I set the BIOS password. But I forgot the password after a while. I searched the Internet a little and tried a couple of methods. It's like removing a bios battery. I removed the bios battery and the password was not reset. But the computer clock was wrong. So the bios battery only reseting the clock. I corrected the clock, but I still can not reset the bios password. Are the bios passwords held in EEPROM? If so, where is the EEPROM chip?

Thank you for your help.

//////

BIOS'a şifre koydum.

Hi NiklausMM,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

The BIOS password is kept in the board chip so it would be kept secured for users protection even if other users would try removing the battery or draining out the machine.

As the hardware manual implies on page 24 " If you forget the password, there is no service procedure to reset
the password. The system board must be replaced for a scheduled fee."  "... , neither Lenovo nor Lenov authorized service technicians provide any services to reset either the user or the master HDP, or to recover data from the hard disk drive."

Policy guideline here in our community forums would limit any sharing of information regarding any ways to circumvent it as follows:

" No posts shall include instructions or directions intended to subvert security measures, including passwords, locking mechanisms, fingerprint scans, etc., or to subvert safety measures. Nor shall any posts provide descriptions to the location of, nor direct links to, content related to these topics."

I hope you would remember the originally placed password having in mind if upper case or any special characters were used.

Regards

There is no upper case or special characters because when i press CAPS LOCK or SHIFT computer makes some noise. I think it means "You can't use CAPS/SHIFT." . And I searched more on internet. I saw EEPROM Chip on motherboard, but I don't know how to reset it.  There is another question "Will the computer service give me back my old motherboard or will the service replace it with the new one and keep the old one on its own?"

Thanks for your helps.

Hi NiklausMM,

Greetings.

There are no Lenovo tools that would allow BIOS reset and usually ends up customers paying for a replacement boards instead.

Returns of the old board would be depending on the aggreement with you and the service center so that would be one of the things to check with them when you give them a call.

Regards

Good day.

As stated above, there is no way to remove a BIOS supervisor/admin password other than knowing it. If you don't know it, a system board replacement is the option.

Any discussion of circumvention or hacking the password will result in this thread being locked or removed.

Sorry that this is not the info you had hoped for.

Regards.
