Lenovo L3 15IML05 screen flickering

2021-06-04, 13:59 PM

Device: Lenovo Ideapad L3 15IML05

Hi, when i use my apps in fullscreen, such as YouTube/CSGO, my laptop screen flickers. It only occurs when im in fullscreen. I've tried update/uninstalling and reinstall/update from windows update/manually update with drivers from intel official website but it just doesn't work. It is confirmed that it is a software problem because uninstalling the intel driver and using Microsoft basic display driver does not cause my screen to flicker. It is temporarily solved when i managed to fix it with intel drivers that I've installed for the very first time, then if i put my laptop to sleep for about 8 hours and wake it, the flickering reappears *everytime*. So, I'm suspecting that the bios update (EJCN24WW from Lenovo's product website) that I've made a few months ago is the problem. I want to revert back to the factory version. However, without the old file, i cant revert back to the old version. Theres only the new version of BIOS in the product website, so i cant do anything. Where can i get the old bios?

Im at the edge of reset, reinstall windows my pc with cleaning my drive completely. Do u guys think this would have a chance to solve the problem?

*the pic attached is a screenshot of the flickering moment

Welcome to the Community Forums cyang123,

Would the same flickering screen be replicated if an external monitor is connected (during the said task)?

Also, you mentioned a previous BIOS update. Please try to check if the current BIOS version of your machine is the same as the recommended BIOS version uploaded on the support site.

Here is how you can check for your machine's BIOS version. Let us know if both BIOS versions match.

If the machine works fine on a basic driver, you can try to update the display drivers from the support site and see if the same issue would occur.

Kindly share your machine type model / MTM (ex. 81C70000RK) indicated on the sticker underneath the device, this will help identifying your machine variant. A machine type model / MTM consists of more than four characters.

Update us how it goes.

Regards.
Dex

My model is Ideapad L3 15IML05 81Y3, and i only see one bios version on the website, which is the same version of my updated bios version. but im pretty sure theres a old bios version becuase i wouldnt be able to install the new bios without having a older version. and, the screen does not flicker on a external monitor.

Hi cyang123,

I would advise to type in your machine serial number to load the correct drivers set to your model.

Hi cyang123,

Thanks for getting back in the thread. Yes, this is the page if you've used the machine serial number, your current BIOS version and this BIOS version on site should match.

Also, on the same page, if you will complete the update on display drivers (message 2 of 7, line 5), would the display flickering occur?

Regards.
