Lenovo ideapad 330 15-ICH storage upgrade

2020-10-18, 11:04 AM

Hello,

i have a Lenovo ideapad 330 (MTM: 81FK0004RAD)

Specs : i7-8750H / 16gb ddr4 / 4gb GTX1050

Storage : 2tb hdd without ssd , so i wish to add ssd , the max amount storage of ssd to add is it 256 gb or 512 gb ? is NVMe PCIe M.2 2280 PCI-Express 3.0 x4 compatible with my laptop ?

there is 2 option i wish to add link 1 :https://www.newegg.com/sabrent-rocket-nvme-256gb/p/1B0-003U-000H3?Item=9SIAME8AHY4455

link 2: https://www.newegg.com/western-digital-black-sn750-nvme-250gb/p/N82E16820250108

And another question in Crucial upgrade tool ( My laptop link: https://www.crucial.com/scanview/8AD43FF531D926C3  ) says that my max memory is 20gb and i have already 16gb ddr4 2400mhz , can i add extra  4gb ddr4 2400mhz ?

Thanks in advance.

My suggestion is to use the crucial upgrade tool to decide on a compatible SSD module.  As far as I know the SSD modules have the same size limits as conventional disk drives.  So under UEFI booting and gpt partition tables LOTS of terabytes are addressable.  Windows Knowledge Base will provide the exact maximum.

Crucial will also recommend RAM modules.  My Lenovo Ideapad 330 has 4 GB soldered in RAM and a place to install a single ddr4 module.  If I place 16GB module I'll have 20 GB.  Lenovo factory recommends 16GB total as maximum.  If you purchase what crucial recommends, most likely it will fit and work.  If not you can probably send it back to Crucial, but read the fine print of purchase terms.

Good Luck,
