Re: New Ideapad 320 really slow?

Well, I did the similar on mine too.

Removed the DVD ROM drive, slotted in a 2.5" Kingston SSD, made it the main boot up disc with the original 1TB 5400rpm SATA HDD as back up drive and now the system smooth like silk (boot up & shut dowtime time <5s).

Re: New Ideapad 320 really slow?

Hi there,

I have a problem with my Ideapad 320-15 abr, is really too slow.

Hardware specific:

AMD A12-9720P
AMD Radeon R7 graphics

AMD Radeon R8 M535DX

12 Gb RAM

I have already uninstalled McAfee but i didn't notice any improvement of performance.

What can i do?

Thanks

I don't actually know why more people haven't done this.

It's clear the issue is the Seagate 1TB hard drive, and an SSD is so inexpensive.

It takes about 5 minutes to change out the old on and put in a new one (refer to page 7)

Surely people's time is worth more than spending hours changing settings and deleting software!??

But why on earth should anyone have to do this with a new computer. If that is the solution, then the product isn't fit for purpose and should be withdrawn from sale.

my old samsung laptop with i3 2nd gen cpu performs awesome when upgrading it with an 240gb SSD and putting the old slow 1tb hdd to the odd bay using an hhd caddy.

so using ssd to your lenovo 320 will make it faster booting up and opening programs. :D

I downloaded the Windows 10 tool and copied to USB. Went into the bios and changed the boot order, then just installed Windows 10. It kept the serial info in the Bios I'm pretty sure so had no drama with the clean install to the SSD.

Did you manage to choose pro over home when you did a clean install? And how about my preloaded installed drivers? Will it remain ? Or do i need to install them one by one again?

And how can i perform a clean wipe before installing clean windows 10 install again? And can you show me your product id number? Does it still have the AAOEM?

I just downloaded and installed all the drivers on to a portable Hard Drive prior to doing the re-install.  It maintained Windows 10 home edition I'm pretty sure, you have to keep the version that was originally installed on that machine. When it asks for the product key you just skip it and then chose " I am Reinstalling Windows 10 on this PC".  I didn't have any dramas.. As I logged back into my microsoft account I'm pretty sure it kept the licensing information (Don't want to share that info on a public forum sorry).
