Re: New Ideapad 320 really slow?

2018-01-23, 2:33 AM

So I have a solution.  I went through and Reset the PC.  It took about 6 hours to do a complete wipe/reinstall of Windows.  I then deleted McAfee anti virus, PowerDVD and all the other bloatware items.  Once the windows updates finished the laptop is running 100% faster.  It took a long time to re-install my apps, but worth it.

Re: New Ideapad 320 really slow?

2018-01-23, 18:11 PM

I bought this model 2 weeks ago (4GB RAM, Intel Core i3 7th Gen (U), 5400RPM HDD, NVIDIA 940MX), and it runs really slowly. Sometimes even slower than my old Acer Aspire 5755 (4gb RAM, Intel Core i5 2nd Gen (M), 5400RPM HDD, Intel HD Graphics 3000).

I tried many ways that I could find such as: reinstall different versions of drivers, change the Power Plans to Maximum Processing, Remove any background process that doesn't necessary etc. But when I came to play some game (s.a CSGO, COD:MW) I experienced some lag with low-medium settings. The FPS is OK at 45-70 FPS (CSGO), but sometimes, the FPS was just freeze for a second (1 - 2 time(s) each minute) (Core temp was stable at ~60°C, quite cool, btw).
Same lagging issue happened to Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop when I open up or close one of the two apps, takes so long, maybe longer than my old Acer Aspire 5755.
Came to benchmark test (with UserBench), it said my HDD (Western Digital, 1TB, 5400RPM) works below the expectation. So MAYBE it's the problem.

If anyone bought this laptop and get some lags, maybe just check if your HDD works fine.

Overall, I'm "pretty" ok with my Lenovo Ideapad 320 because it's quite cheap and everything is just right for me (outside and "inside"). Just hate the lagging issue.

my new ideapad 320 just arrived and right out of the box it is SLOOOOOOOOOW.  Infuriatingly slow, to the point that I wonder if it will crash.  It also won't detect my second monitor which is irritating.  I am going to play dumb and call Lenovo support since it's still within the warranty period and threaten to return if they can't suggest a change.  I really don't want to have to wipe and reinstall Windows.

Similar symptoms. Disk usage 100% when i tried to instal something. To save others precious time: Download win10 iso from microsoft web and do a clean instal and let windows download drivers itself. I tried to do a instal from recovery partition but that windows came full of bloatware, unupdated. Once I did original windows instal problems went away and computer behaves as it should. Don't worry about licence keys. Your windows key should be in bios. Windows will activate digitally. This was really frustrating experience cause I come from Mac world. New computer should work and behave like new. Happy for HW but the software side of Lenovo products dissapointed me. Almost convinced the person to buy SSD cause this was my first win 10 experience and I thought it was slow as hell and can't work on HDD.

Still leaves me shaking my head to think that this product is being sold, still, in a state that's not fit to use. Does Lenovo not take a single bit of notice of these forums?

Hi.

Unfortunately, every PC/laptop/phone is sell with bloatware, no matter the brand.

I don't think the issue is to do with bloatware - though that never helps peformance, of course, it's more to do with Windows itself, and how it's been setup, surely?
