SSD for Ideapad 700 -15ISK

2019-03-09, 14:15 PM

I have idepad 700-15isk i7 model lenovo laptop. I've read on te internet that this laptop has a PCIe slot. I know that PCIe slot needs NVMe m2 ssd but is it compatible for M2 ssd?

(for instance: Samsung 860 Evo 250 GB M2 ssd)

Or do I have to buy a NVME ssd like 970 evo/evo plus?

Thanks.

Laptops manufactured around the time of the 700-15ISK have an M.2 socket that accepts either an NVMe M.2 SSD or a SATA M.2 SSD. So the SSD that you mention should work. Note that SATA M.2 SSDs:

(1) Are cheaper,

(2) Generate less heat,

(3) Are much faster than an HDD (but slower than an NVMe SSD).

Note: the current range of Lenovo laptops have an M.2 socket that accepts only an NVMe M.2 SSD.

Samsung M.2 SSDs are the ones that are most compatible with the 700-15ISK, but I have not used the model that you mention, so cannot confirm from personal experience that it will work. It will probably  work (any other brand is less likely to work).

Hi! Did you finally bought the 970 evo plus? I'm thinking on buying the same but I didn´t see anyone with this SSD currently working.
