I have Lenovo Flex4 and have been struggling for last 6 months. The fingerprint reader seems to have a mind of its own and will start working and stop working for no explainable reason. This is so frustrating and Lenovo does not want to address the problem at all.

For me changing the USB hub has solved my problem. Like already describe before i can only suggest you to disconnect all usb devices for testing ;)

Hey, There is some real serious issue with the fingerprint scanner not working on the Lenovo ideapad 520-IKIB, ever after the windows 1803 update. I contacted the customer care, posted on social media, just heard from the nearest service center as well, I was told that there is a software issue. I uninstalled and deleted the older drivers and installed new drivers, it worked until i shut my system, later when i turned it back on, the same thing again, finger-print not working and the system showing 'code10 error' ever since 2 days. NOTE: all the drivers and including the tiniest of the updates are installed to the latest version available on the internet. And nothing is ringing any bells. and i also did some surfing on the forums page and found that this exact same issue is faced by a ton of people out there, meaning that is simply a software issue/bug that needs to be fixed asap. please. i mean, please.

Same for Ideapad 720S-14IKB. I had a web session with a Lenovo support engineer and he just did what I was doing.
Uninstall the driver, restart, it works for a while but once you restart the problem is back. No solution as of this time. I am on Windows 1903 now and still not working. Lenovo Doesn't even care to send a bulletin or update their drivers on the support website or care to explain what is happening.

It is infuriating! Is there any formal way to make sure Lenovo is notified about this thread? A lot of customers here are lacking a working feature for no apparent reason and none from the company even issued a statement regarding it, just even let us know that you guys at Lenovo are aware of it.. Please!

Hi guys, just to let you know that I also have this problem about 1-2 weeks ago. Don't know exactly what triggered this problem.
My laptop Idepad 720S-14IKB

Using bios version : 6LCN24WWV1.10 (right now there's bios update notification at Vantage)
Fingerprint driver : 5.5.2613.1050 . date : 08/06/2017

lastest driver available at https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/LAPTOPS-AND-NETBOOKS/700-SERIES/720S-14IKB-TYPE-81BD/downloads/DS500857 was the same version with different date, don't if it's different or the same driver.

But reinstalling driver not works on me.

hey guys, 

i have a 720s 14ikb 

been having the same issue for a very long time. 

i called lenovo and they told me since im still in warranty they will fix it for free. but i need my laptop everday and they said it takes about 10 business days. 

so that isnt an option, i guess all we can do is wait until lenovo fixes up, very unacceptable from a large company.

Release date: 18/7/2019

 

Is now working, for around 4 weeks now.

I did Bios update and nothig changed... Tried everything on earth by now. Im my opinion its simply the waist of time. Sorry to say folks Lenovo is not working on this issue, which concerns thousands of its laptop users. I have contacted Lenovo warranty support. They advised me to bring the laptop to them. I wont do this, as I use it every day. Its not a problem of my laptop, its a thingerprint software problem which is ignored by Lenovo. I simply do not use the thingerprint anymore. Its not a big deal to forget it. But the company has dissapointed me. Its the fact which I wont forget.
