Screen Repair on Edge 2

2017-02-17, 22:18 PM

Notebook:  Lenovo Edge 2‑1580 80QF 15.6″

Is the LCD screen on the Lenovo Edge 2 glued to the digitizer? I'm assuming there's a top layer of glass, then the digitizer in the middle, and lastly the LCD. I just wanted to know if the LCD is easy to seperate out or if it's actually glued to the rest of the screens.

Thanks!

Hi Dryke,

Welcome to Lenovo Community! And happy to have you here.

As I understand that you have query regarding LCD screen replacement on your Lenovo Edge 2‑1580

Looking at the HMM & parts list it says basically while replacing it has two parts one is LCD touch screen digitizer (5D10K28140) & LCD/LED screen (5D10H29267)

So both are separate & not glued to each other.

You can follow this video tutorial or HMM, LCD replacement, page 49

I hope the above information helped you.

Please feel free to post in Lenovo Community Forums if you have any further queries!

Regards,
Prabhansh

Thanks.

So, how would I go about seperating the LCD from the digitizer?

Hi friend,

They both are seperate parts & are not attached or glued to each other, just go through the video tutorial for more details.

Cheers

Prabhansh

Re: Screen Repair on Edge 2

Thanks again for the quick reply!

Maybe I'm missing something. I went through the whole video course, but all I can find is information about removing the whole LCD unit which I had already removed from the rest of the laptop (here is the LCD unit I'm talking about...

https://www.amazon.com/XJS-Replacement-Digitizer-sNV156FHM-N42-NV156FHM-A13/dp/B01M7MO09Q/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1489289210&sr=8-1&keywords=NV156FHM-a13

I don't want to pay that much. So, now I want to seperate the touchscreen (digitzer) from the LCD screen and just replace the LCD screen... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B018O8E7EY/ref=ord_cart_shr?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2J2RVYEZZOYEY

I'll re-use the old digitizer assuming it stays in good condition on a (hopefully) successful removal.

I'm just not sure how I should go about seperating the LCD screen from the digitizer screen. I don't know if I can just easily pull them apart or if I need to cut them apart or where to start cutting or if I need to use heat as well? I've done phone screen repair but not a laptop touchscreen before. Thanks again for reading this if you've made it this far. :)

Q:  I don't know if I can just easily pull the LCD & Digitizer apart or if I need to cut them apart or where to cut them apart or if I need to use heat?
