Setup fail on brand new S145

2021-06-20, 16:37 PM

I started the initial set up on a brand new out of the box Lenovo s145 and the screen is stuck on the "Protect your Device" page with all the Lenovo registration and communication tick boxes, with the "Next" button greyed out no matter what is or is not ticked. It appears that Windows is not yet installed.  The Windows button is not responsive. I cant force a shut down with Control-Alt-Delete.  The power button just seems to put the laptop to sleep, returning to this page when I restart.  Any thoughts on how to restart the initial set up process?

Thank you @DexLenovo!

But how do I restart? Windows is not loaded so I can't power down that way.  The power button just puts the laptop to sleep.  Should I use the Novo button?  And if so, what option should I select.... normal start or factory reset?

Regards,

Nancy

Hi @Nancy1955

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Since this is a brand new machine, I would suggest to restart the set up.

This time around, try to skip any network configuration prompting you for now but complete it as a non connected stand alone set up.

You may do all other things or configurations later.

Regards.

Hi @Nancy1955

Perhaps try disconnecting the charger and holding down the power button for 15-30 seconds to possibly shutdown the machine. Accessing the novo button would either turn on the device or boot to Novo menu, you can access Normal start up from novo button if the power button itself doesn't work.
