Sound not working with Zoom

I just got my IdeaPad Flex, and love it, but the sound keeps disappearing when I'm using Zoom. Usually about 2 min. into the call. The sound icon in the task bar would show the x. Initially I was able to 'fix' it by turning on the sound there, and then I had to 'test sound and microphone' in Zoom, and I'd be back. Not great, but it did the trick. 

Then, in an attempt to get rid of this AudioSmart, I uninstalled Lenove Vantage. Now the sound won't work at all anymore, can't find a way around it either, and the stupid Audiosmart still shows up. 

I looked in Task Scheduler (as some suggested for audio issues) but don't see Conexant anywhere. 

Any suggestions??

Update: got the sound working.... IF i plug in the HDMI and run the sound through my tv. Would still love an actually solution though!

I finally fixed the problem!!! 

Updating the drivers didn't help at all. And the problem was only with Zoom.

 

Turned out it is SmartAudio that's causing the issue. I went to my Settings, Programs and uninstalled it.... that totally fixed it. 

The last windows update did put SmartAudio onto my computer again, and I promptly had the same issue, but this time I was able to fix it quickly by just uninstalling it again. Have a feeling I may need to do this after each update, but that's better than dealing with this annoying issue. 

 

The moment you see this Lenovo Audiosmart/smartaudio black button at the top of your zoom screen, you know the program is back. Now that it's uninstalled, I don't see that black button.

Just to make sure that you are on the right board, could you provide to us the model of your machine? This way we could provide you accurate troubleshooting steps.

Mean while, try installing the audio sound driver from our website: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/, just provide the exact model of your computer then go to Drivers and Software tab. Check if the issue is the same. Let us know.

I am having exactly the same issue with my IdeaPad Flex. 

I bought my IdeaPad Fex two weeks ago, and I like it a lot, however, when I use Zoom, the sound keeps disappearing. My sound become mute, and so does my microphone. Usually about 2 - 4 minutes into the call. The sound icon in the task bar bottom right side of the screen shows x. I have to turn it back on, and microphone too. It happens several times during one call. I have to use Zoom a lot, and it's quite annoying. 

So, I am seriously considering getting a refund of this, and buy another one with a different brand.

 

Anyway, other than this, I am satisfied with my IdeaPad. I searched a lot through the Internet, but couldn't find an answer yet.

Could anybody help?

I also had the same problem with Zoom on the Lenovo Mod 81SS, the Ideapad Flex. The sound kept dropping. I had to go to the setting in Zoom and select Speakers (Synaptics Audio) and the Microphone select Same as System. Once I did that I have been fine.

 

I could not have both the speakers and microphone Same as System or Synaptics Audio. Had to be one of each.

I'm having the exact same problem of both microphone or speakers suddenly stop working at random times while in Zoom meetings. I have to toggle the microphone option in Zoom back and forth between "Synaptics Audio" and "same as system" to get it working again. I use Zoom every day for work. Super annoying. Can't find an answer to this problem anywhere on the internet. Please help us solve this problem! Otherwise, I may need to return my computer as well after taking a lot of time to set everything up on the computer...

I have the same problem. I've already updated the driver from Lenovo website but the audio still doesn't work. It only works whit a headset plugged. It's really annoying.

I'm having the same issue with Zoom muting after about a minute or so of a meeting starting. I've got a Lenovo Flex-14API 2 in 1 purchased in Jan 2020. A fix would be appreciated. 

I actually joined here to see if I can find a solution to the laptop not recognizing and pairing with my Ultimate Ears (UE) Megaboom bluetooth speaker, but I'll continue looking to see if there's already a thread on that issue.

I'm having the same problem. I just posted about this not having seen this thread first. Now I'm even more frustrated that so many users are having the same problem, but also glad I'm not crazy. Is someone going to respond to this issue!????
