Upgrading IdeaPad 3 15IIL05?

2020-08-11, 17:18 PM

I just purchased a new IdeaPad 3 15IIL05 on Saturday.

Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-10051G1 CPU @ 1.29GHz 1.19 GHz

8.00 GB(7.75 GB usable)

64-bit Operating System, x64-based processor

Unfortunately I did not do as much research as I should have and realized after I purchased it that it was not sufficient for gaming purposes.

Is it possible to upgrade the processor from the current one to either the Intel Core i5-2300 2.8 GHz OR the Intel Core i7 4790 3.6 GHz? I have read conflicting things so I figured I would come here for the official answer.

Thanks in advance!

Hi brillcs,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Checking the hardware manual images shows the CPU is soldered.

Intel description of the socket also confirms that the Intel® Core™ i3-1005G1 Processor is BGA (Ball Grid Array) soldered on the systemboard so it is non-upgradable.

I hope this helps answer your query.
