Upgrading Lenovo Ideapad 700 I5SK

2020-06-24, 12:31 PM

Hi I need some help to upgrade my Ideapad currently it only has a SATA drive and only 8GB RAM,

I will add a M.2 NVME 3.0 drive - Sabrent Rocket 3.0 or the Sabrent Rocket Q, will these drives be compatible?

Also the RAM will add additional 16GB, I checked and believe the RAM is 2133Mhz PC4-170000 if i change to 2400Mhz will it make an issue with the current RAM?

SPEC,

I7 6700HQ

1TB SATA

8GB RAM

4GB Graphics

Hi saj_rs,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

General specification shows:

32GB max / PC4-17000 2133MHz DDR4, two 260-pin SO-DIMM sockets

Some: HDD / 2.5" wide, 7mm high Some: Hybrid drive with 8GB NAND flash memory / 2.5" wide, 7mm high Some: M.2 Solid State Drive (SSD), via M.2 card slot

I suggest that you share the machine type model / MTM (ex. 81C70000RK) from the sticker as it would help us detail more about your machine variant.

We can also explore more on the upgrade options specific to your machine.

There won't be any issues with mixed frequency as both would be supported.

This will be under clocked to the lowest to have synch processing.

Update us soon as convenient.

Regards

So I will buy

Sabrent 1TB ROCKET NVMe PCIe M.2 2280 Internal SSD Solid State Drive (SB-ROCKET-1TB)

And

Crucial 16GB Single DDR4 2400 MT/s (PC4-19200) DR x8 SODIMM 260-Pin Memory - CT16G4SFD824A 16GB Dual Rank Crucial DDR4 2666 MT/s

This should be compatible?

Hi saj_rs,

Greetings.

Checking on your systemboard (PN 5B20K91444) shows that you do have the m.2 PCIe slot and likewise available slot for ram upgrade.

Both SSD and ram you choose should work just fine.

Regards
