By default, Realtek HD Audo is using a "classic" mode, which doesn't distinguish between internal and external microphones. In order to change this setting, you have to switch this mode to multi-stream. In order to do so, go to Control Panel, then select Realtek HD Audio Manager (could be named differently), then select Advanced settings located in right upper corner and finally enable multi-stream mode. After this change, you will be able to select between internal and external microphones.

Re:idea pad 330 built-in microphone not working

I replaced my G580 Thinkpad with this ideapad 330 about six months ago I tried everything to get the internal microphone to work on the 330, but nothing works, so I have gone back to using my G580 Thinkpad...the internal microphone works great, however, I don't feel I should have to do this....how can I get the internal microphone on the 330 to work?

I was struggling with the same issue that the Realtek HD Audio Manager did not have the "advanced settings" option

I solved this by downloading the audio driver from Lenovo website. I installed this driver (the download is an executable) and rebooted. After rebooting the Realtek HD Audio Manager was updated and I was able to "separate all input jacks as independent input devices" on the "advanced settings" section

In my case it was an Ideapad 320, so I used this driver:

I think for the 330 series (or any other series) it is a different driver but probably also available in this section (https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/br/pt/products/laptops-and-netbooks)
