ideapad 310-15ISK Memory upgrade

2016-09-12, 6:56 AM

I've just purchased this laptop... its on the way actually. Im wanting to order memory for it.
What is the maximum memory that can be installed? It has a 4 gb of DDR4-2133 MHz soldered on the motherboard and one open slot for adding additional memory. The hardware manual says 'maximum supported memory'   - 8gb.
Does this mean the most that can be added is 4gb?   or can an 8gb stick be added?

Generally that means that the maximum amount of memory (total) that the system will address is 8GB, so the maximum memory you can add is 4GB.

That said, in viewing this page http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/ideapad/300-series/310-15-inch/  someone from Lenovo posted 25 days ago in the Questions and Answers, that the models listed there will accept an 8GB SODIMM for a total of 12GB, but I question whether that is correct since the Technical Specifications on the same link still states that the maximum RAM is 8GB.

To be sure, I would probably contact Lenovo Support and verify exactly what your particular model supports.

Hi, I just added a Crucial 16gb ballistix sport single ram and now I have a total of 20gb of ram. On the crucial website they state that the maximum ram capacity is 20.

Disclaimer: I just got it today so take what Im saying with a grain of salt but no issues so far

Sweet, although only 8GB would presumably be addressed in dual-channel mode. The remaining 12GB would be single-channel. I prefer having the RAM off-board and choosing the exact amount and configuration myself. It would also save a mainboard should one of the RAMs fail at some point.

How is it working now? You wrote that you have 20gb of installed ram. Is it working?

I want to upgrade my latpop's ram too so please reply ASAP.

Thanks in advance.

Works great with 8GB DDR4 - 2400 MHz Crucial. Total memory is 12GB (4GB onboard + 8GB Crucial). :)
