keyboard not working on ideapad 330 17ICH

2019-04-30, 12:25 PM

Hi all,

My keyboard stopped working today. This occured right after a spontaneous shutdown (latpop suddenly just went out. no warning). At restart, the keyboard was not responding. I now use an external USB keyboard which works fine. I tryed updating, resinstalling the driver, but it still doesn't work. I have a Code 10 error message in the Device Manager for this device.

I ran a system check in the Lenovo Solution Center, which replied there is not problem detected. When testing the keyboard, though, it says the test was cancelled...

I tried to contact support through Chat, but this service is not supported in my country.

Thank you for any kind of help solving this issue.

Regards

Hi again,

After some more research, I applied this kinda esoteric method :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSNvGXGYnZo

And it worked!. it involves shutting down the laptop and press a combination of Fn+S+V and then press the I/O button for 60 seconds and it now works again!. the method in the video is for an Ideapad 320, but it worked on my 330 17ICH, so there you go.

Good luck to others with the same issue!

I tried this, and then it wouldn't power on. So I plugged in the power cord and it powered on, but still only the mousepad works, not the keyboard.

Maybe I'm doing it wrong? (I watched the video, but I don't understand Spanish...)

So I watched this video

https://youtu.be/DQgiEI3_Yn4

and learned how to use the on-screen keyboard so I could log in. And then he showed how to get to device manager and see the keyboard. My issue want the same as his, but it showed me I had the wrong keyboard selected and I was able to correct it.

I'm facing the same trouble time to time. So, next steps usually work for me:

0. Unplug the power wire from laptop so it started working from battery.

1. Remove driver for Touchpad, so both mouse and touchpad were listed in Device Manager as simple HID devices (not an ELAN or alike);

2. Disable other HID keyboard drivers;

3. Check registry and update UpperFilters (set value to kbdclass);

4. Restart computer.
