my Ideapad 33015ARR shuts down when inactive

2018-08-27, 4:59 AM

Hello

I bought a new ideapad 33015ARR about 10 days ago. One thing I noticed is that the computer completely shuts off when I am away from it for a long time. Three times I have come home to find it shut down. It is plugged in so should not be a battery issue.  Is there some setting in the lenova or Windows 10 that is casuing a complete shutdown (as opposed to just going into sleep mode). Thx

Hey there, Donkey!

Another help here. Yes, the laptop will go into hibernation mode since you set it up to 180 minutes. You can set it to "never" as well, so that the laptop will stay on. However, we highly recommend shutting down the laptop properly if you will not use it for a long period of time. You can also save up energy by doing that. Should you have any other concern, let us know. Have a great day!

Hi, welcome to community forums. You need to disable the "hybrid sleep option" to prevent the machine from shutting down when not in use for a long period of time. To do this, search for Power Options>Sleep>Allow hybrid sleep>Setting>Off. See screenshot below. Let us know how it goes.

I have two hybrid sleep settings. One for battery and one for plugged in. they were both already off, so that cant be the solution I dont think. Any other ideas? My hyberinate settings below them are both set at `180 minutes. Is hybernate a full shut-off????

Also, i just noticed that your screenshot has power saver (active) and my computer has (balanced) active. Does that matter with respect to the solution you suggested?

It is possible that what you are experiencing is the "unattended idle timeout".  This is controlled by a hidden setting.  The following page explains this timeout and tells you how to find the setting:

Sorry for the late response. Set the hibernate settings to zero minutes, hibernation stores your open programs and
documents data on the hard drive then turns off your machine to save power. The Active, Balanced, Power saving &
High performance are preset power themes that you can change any time depending on your preference.

Re: my Ideapad 33015ARR shuts down when inactive

Thanks. My question was really about "why" my computer was shutting down. I thought maybe it was overheating or that it was just crashing. I dont mind if it is going off because of my hibernation settings. So just to be clear, it is the fact my hibernation settings are at 180 minutes that my computer is shutting off, and if I dont want it shut off when idle for a long time I can just set hibernate to "never"

Thx in advance.
