100S-11IBY Battery trouble-Is it time to replace it?

Hi,

I purchased the laptop in November and I've been having issues with the battery for the past two days. The charger is currently plugged in, but it won't charge. It looks like it's charging but when I hover over the battery icon it says "0% available, plugged in, charging". It also did the same thing earlier while charging and it automatically shut down on it's own. Last night I left it plugged in all night and when I woke it was at 100% but it's back to giving trouble today.

Any quick fixes or do I need to buy a new laptop before this one dies?

Re: 100S-11IBY Battery trouble-Is it time to replace it?

Hi there, Buckeye-

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

You can start by flushing out all static, remove AC adaptor and hold down power button for about 20 seconds.

Did u tried battery gauge reset?

Click here to how to perform battery gauge.

Update us how it goes.

Re: 100S-11IBY Battery trouble-Is it time to replace it?

Hi Shashi,thanks for the response.

I did try to flush out the static. It did bring my battery up to 15% but the same problem persisted.

I don't have the battery gauge on my laptop. I saw another thread from a few days ago about installing a missing battery gauge but it didn't work. I downloaded it and restarted, the battery gauge popped up in my taskbar but I was unable to click on it or do anything with it. It does look like my battery is charging again-it went from 17% to 20%.

Re: 100S-11IBY Battery trouble-Is it time to replace it?

Based from your findings, it's possible that:

- The battery circuit inside is not working to unload the charge, or

- One of the battery cells have already reached its life span

- the chip that handles how the battery gets charge/discharge and checks the charge level of each battery cell (both are controlled by a firmware) is malfunctioning.

However, i would recommend contacting Lenovo service centres and applying the normal phone techniques to get it replaced promptly or assist you further.
