Hi, my 720s does not respond (go to sleep, shut down, turn screen off, etc.) when I close the lid. I have tried both "sleep" and "shut down" options under "when I close the lid" in power options. I am able to sleep or shut down via the physical power button or the start menu.
Is this a hardware issue?

Unfortunately I don`t have the unit so can`t test for you, hopefully someone who has is able to chime in and correct me if I`m wrong.
From the sounds of it, it is possible that there is a hardware issue.
You could try to update the video and chipset drivers on the unit.
You can find these on the support page, it may be able to help.
Otherwise, if you have warranty, it may be worth following this up with your local Lenovo support line for a possible service/confirmation.
