Re: Access BIOS on Lenovo Ideapad 300

Hello everyone ...

I can not enter the BIOS menu or BOOT selection during system startup. (In case: Windows).

I press the sequence Fn + F2, Fn + F1, Fn + F12, Delete, Esc and nothing happens.

Any suggestions for this problem?

Some configuration is made so that the key combination option is available the next time for entry on Boot Selection or BIOS access?

Thank's.

Re: Access BIOS on Lenovo Ideapad 300

Per page 8 of the (English) User Guide - ideapad 300-14IBR, ideapad 300-15IBR use the NOVO button.

[edit] It's a good idea to do a full shutdown before accessing BIOS or booting an external device or other OS:  SHIFT + shutdown.

Re: Access BIOS on Lenovo Ideapad 300

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

To access the BIOS on your model is done with the NOVO button.  To use, just shut Windows completely down by holding the Shift key when you choose Shut Down from the Windows menu.  Once completely shut down then press the NOVO button and choose BIOS Setup from the menu.  The User Guide for your model has additional references, page #23 for using the NOVO button, page #8 shows the location of the NOVO button.  Here is a link to that guide....

Re: Access BIOS on Lenovo Ideapad 300

Dear zoltanthegypsy, thanks for the answer.

I managed access the BIOS by the "recovery mode" on Windows.

Now I want to learn how to enable the shortcut by pressing the key combination on the keyboard during the boot.

The reason: I want to install Linux on dualboot.

Re: Access BIOS on Lenovo Ideapad 300

I don't think there's a key combo for BIOS access on that machine.  There's a possibility it will give you a "press ENTER" option on a reboot, but I don't think so.

You'll need to boot via the NOVO button to do what you want or use the Advanced Startup option that you've found in Windows.

Again, make sure Windows is fully shut down before modifying BIOS, booting the Linux installer, or switching to the installed Linux.  SHIFT + shutdown or use the Advanced Startup option from within Windows.

[edit] If you're going to be toggling between operating systems regularly you may want to turn off fast startup:  http://www.howtogeek.com/243901/the-pros-and-cons-of-windows-10s-fast-startup-mode/

It's very difficult for anyone to answer you question without knowing what model of laptop you have.

Please provide more information.

I think that using windows there is  way to access? Is it safe to switch to Legacy or will that not work?

Thank you.

On Lenovo laptops manufactured in the last few years, the "Novo" button is hidden beneath the casing.  You press it by inserting the end of a straightened paper clip (or similar) into the correct hole in the casing.  Post number 2 in this thread shows where the correct hole can be found (thanks to: ZoltanTheGypsy).

Re: Access BIOS on Lenovo Ideapad 300

If you have windows 10 the easiest way is just reboot into the bios. It saves you having to find a paperclip to stick in the hole.
