As title says, I want to add a 2nd SSD to IdeaPad L340-15IRH Gaming. What I want to know is what parts do I need exactly and where to get them. My SSD is a Western Digital Blue 3D NAND (model WDS100T2B0A-00SM50).
I bought this on newegg with the basic options: https://www.newegg.ca/black-lenovo-ideapad-l340-81lk000pus-gaming-entertainment/p/N82E16834845009?it...
Now, I found another post of someone adding a HDD to the same laptop model (https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-IdeaPad-1xx-3xx-5xx-7xx/IdeaPad-L340-Where-to-obtain-cable-to-co...).
However, I wanted to make sure this was gonna work before I bought the parts. According to that post, "I would need part 5C10S29927 (a "HDD Cable L 81LK") and an appropriate casing (part 5B40S21897, a "HDDBracketL81LGH")". Shouldn't I need another cable for power other than the two parts listed?
Also, I found the parts on https://www.sparepartworld.com/ but I was wondering if there was a better place to buy them.
I tried to contact support, but I didn't find any way to do so, can you help me with that too?

I recently tried to make my 2.5 inch hard drive work with the laptop. I had to a buy a second cable in my case, as I bought the laptop with no hard drive. Long story short, it didn't work.
I used one of these 12 pin SATA cables:

If I was to try it again I would use this:
but as of right now I'm pretty sure all the cables are the same and Lenovo is doing something funky to restrict us from upgrading.

I've been told an OEM cable is needed. The standard 12 pins might not work. The other thread about adding a second hard drive includes this link to the correct cable:
Once that goes in stock me or the other guy in the thread will update you all if it works.

I just ordered from the Encompass site even though it was not in stock. They will ship it when it's ready.
I thought I needed one more cable for power, but I realized there is a dongle coming with the cable that connects to both sata and power at once.
EDIT: Thank you also to zoltanthegypsy for moving the thread.

As a new owner, I'm just finding these things out, so maybe I'm the last to know but, in case you don't know, there is a complete, downloadable parts list for this laptop at

Same issue here, I called Lenovo and the customer service will get their sale team to give me a quotation IF there's stock.
But thing doesn't look bright, some youtuber have the exact same issue, he contacted them, price for that cable is outrageous!!

Maybe these charges include the international courier cost or maybe the pricing is different outside North America. At Encompass.com, each of the four items on the quotation form in the video is shown with a price of $10.46US, so that would be the first choice if they accept orders from your country.
