Add an HDD to ideapad 700-15ISK

Hello,

I am plannig to buy the ideapad 700-15ISK (80RU00CYUS), with 256GB PCIe SSD.

From reading the laptop specifications I see that there is a SATA 3 slot avaliable.

If i buy a Seagate ST2000LM007 2TB 128MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 2.5" Internal Notebook Hard Drive will I be able to install it on the laptop? is there anything else I need to buy to connect it?

Will it void tha warranty?

Thanks,

Re: Add an HDD to ideapad 700-15ISK

Hi pachecore ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Adding or upgrading your devices will not void the warranty as long as there won't be any damage done to the machine in doing so .

As a lot of users have done their upgrades , with 80RU00CYUS you would be needing additional HDD bracket an cable unlike if you purchase 80RU00D8US with 1TB 5400 RPM+256GB PCIe SSD on it on complete package .

Similar discussions here and here for your reference as post were from previous months ago but still worth a while to check. Herewith is the hardware manual guide for the upgrade you are planning.

Hope this help answer your query.

Regards

Re: Add an HDD to ideapad 700-15ISK

Thanks for you answer, it was very helpful.

I am leaning on 80RU00CYUS to add the 2tb hdd instead of having a 1tb,

On www.encompassparts.com the model of the laptop can't be found, will these be the right ones to buy? I'm assuming they are generic ?

Cable: 5C10K25544
Bracket: 5B40K25518

Thanks, regards

Re: Add an HDD to ideapad 700-15ISK

Hi pachecore ,

That I cannot say directly as there would be a lot resellers that sees the demand for such parts. Officially thou , lenovo encompass would be the certified Lenovo part reseller at the moment.
