I want to add a HDD on my Ideapad model 80XB0006 and although the manual shows how to remove both SSD and HDD there is no spec on the HDD. Since I will order online I must have a model / type which will fit on the space I have. Now I have a SSD 256GB. I did have a chat this morning with Lenovo rep but gave up after I got nowhere.
Thanks

Hi oskarIT,
Greetings.
Using the model type 80XB here on the parts lookup page shows compatible harddrive :
Part number: 16200383 ST500LT012 6G 7mm 5.4K 500G HDD
Part number: 16200554 WD10SPCX-24HWST1
On the same page would also show a number of substitute harddrives too that you can use as described here on the hardware manual page 36.
Hope this help answer your query.
Regards
*** Edited reply: Corrected hardware manual here for 80XB0006
Flex 5-1570 Laptop (Lenovo) - Type 80XB
Using the parts lookup page to show more on the bottom page would still give several substitute parts aside from already posted (substitute parts below).

Additional information:
You will need the HDD bracket, part 5B40N71271.
I do not know if this includes the connection cable.
I did not find a separate connection cable in your parts list.

Use the training video for a Flex 15, HDD section to get general idea of what you are in for.
The insides of your machine may be different.

Note:
On future posts, state your machine is a Flex 5-1570.

Correct HMM is in this post. The HMM for your machine does not list HDD parts.
https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-IdeaPad-100-305-500-Edge/IdeaPad-Flex-5/m-p/3748008#M47462
You must use the parts list link provided in earlier post.

Bill I don’t understand your reply
Yes spidey101 did provide good information on the link you posted however the manuals and support site on that link does not indicate anything regarding the question I have in this post which is what kind of HDD I need.
So I did not forget/ignored/did not read the info from Spidey101, just it was not relevant to my current question.
If I have misunderstood something, I apologize
BTW I did chat with Lenovo today regarding this subject but I got nowhere with the agent and I gave up

Hi All,
Greetings.
Flex 5 aka Yoga 520 product specifications sheet here would be able to show general specs of the hard drive:
HDD / SATA 6.0Gb/s, 2.5" wide, 7mm high
Ordering the hard drive using the part number would be better as shown on above list compatible to the model 80XB. Further checking parts lookup page with 80XB0006 shows that a bracket is available (part # 5B40N71271 HDD Bracket C 80XB ) so a 7mm SATA HDD would be a better choice.

Good news spidey101, the 3 links provided gives me what I need. Thanks
Also it’s good to know that Flex 5 is similar to Yoga 520. I find the Lenovo products line difficult to understand and kind of confusing but I’m getting there (have been a Dell man since the earlys 2000).
Your time is much appreciated

Sadly, Lenovo documentation and places for self resolution lack.
Sadly, your Lenovo experience interactive and on the phone (to IBM Atlanta), lack.
My bad for directing you to current HMM manual which fails to state HDD parts, slim or otherwise. and where is the connector.

Your awareness to issues you experience (from old dell), should be a wake up call for Lenovo. Spidey101 is most great. I also got misdirected trying to find response to your question. Other users of other New Lenovo machines also find FAILURE in Lenovo EASY answers to parts needed and how do I get there. You stated your experience clearly.
How should I know a Flex 5 is aka yoga 520?
How should I know a Flex 15, in training video is your machine, vs Flex 1?
You have a Flex 5-1570. You and I agree on this.
