I bought this Ideapad 14IBR on friday and the battery will not hold a charge and it has been at 0% since i bought it. any idea why this is ahppening. do I need to take it back and get another one?

Well, The battery most likely is Lithium Ion (Li-Ion) and either have been a production defect; or have not been properly charged at the factory; or have been drained completely, been sitting for a long time, then as a result have suffered damages to the chemical bits inside. You may have to return only the battery to the store (If accessible to remove form outside/If not internal) , unless they tell you to bring something else in addition.

I have the same issue. My company has purchased 10pcs Lenovo 100S 14IBR laptops and already 4 of these have had problems with battery not charging. Using Windows 10 64-bit pro. Tried changing power adapters but without help. Also updated to the latest firmware and used Lenovo update tool to load latest drivers. No success in solving the problem.
