Re: Difference between ideapad 330s-ARR and 330s-15IKB

Hello community,

recently I bought one Ideapad 330s-15IKB, but when I received the package, I have seen that the model that came for me its the 330s-15ARR, so I quickly downloaded the hardware manual of the 15ARR to see if its worth it ask for the exchange, I see that the heatsink of the processor cooler reach just one slot, not two like the 15IKB, so here goes the questions:

  • What does that means? (See images bellow)
  • Its worth to me ask for the exchange of the right model that I buyed or I will not loose something so important?
  • What the differences between those models?

Thanks!

Re: Difference between ideapad 330s-ARR and 330s-15IKB

Hi Ribeirri,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

It would be better to compare each variants by its machine type model / MTM (ex. 81FB0014UK) from the sticker or checking it here in the parts lookup page.

The images from the manual may not be sufficient to describe the components since it is more generalized to the Ideapad 330s. I can see same systemboard with heatsinks that also spreads out to the onboard ram on both ISK (intel) and ARR (AMD) versions.

You can perhaps review further using the MTM for each machine and compare both in the parts lookup page.

I hope this helps answer your query.

Re: Difference between ideapad 330s-ARR and 330s-15IKB

This Ideapad 330S-ARR has AMD Ryzen CPU not Intel CPU. The "330S-15IKB" has Intel CPU.  If your intention was to have Intel CPU you should return the notebook. If the CPU type is not important to you then if you should keep it may depend on what the rest of the configuration is... Ryzen 5 or Ryzen 7 ? How much RAM, and HDD/SSD? etc.

Ideapad 330S-15IKB 81F500NSUS, BIOS 7SCN26WW, Core-i5, 20GB RAM (Crucial CT16G4SFD8266), 480GB Corsair MP510 M.2 NVMe, 500GB Samsung EVO 850 SATA SSD, Intel 9260NGW AC-WiFi OS: Win11 "lite", Pop!_OS 22.04 w/kernel 5.18.6

Re: Difference between ideapad 330s-ARR and 330s-15IKB

If you go for the AMD version, you should know beforehand that the device is known for an audio playback delay over the headphone jack and a nonfunctional standby due to defective audio and energy management drivers, plus a possibly horrendous Realtek 8821CE or 8822BE WiFi adapter which drops connectivity all the time. Those haven't been fixed yet. This especially affects the 330(s) and 530(s) models with AMD CPUs.

IKB=Intel Kaby Lake

ARR=AMD Raven Ridge

I've noticed that yesterday, was thinking that the delay was because of the Low ram intalled causing struggling.

Re: Difference between ideapad 330s-ARR and 330s-15IKB

This ~2-3 second delay after ~15 seconds of no playback is based on the audio driver, and I think that the standby also causes problems for you, right? That can be "fixed" by disabling the Realtek Audio chip in the device manager.

Re: Difference between ideapad 330s-ARR and 330s-15IKB

About the wi-fi card, I've see those problems too, so here goes the upgrades:

• Change the wi-fi card to an Intel Ac 9620
•Increase 8gb 2400mhz ram
• Add Samsung evo 970 nvme PCIe

At the time this should be sufficient for estudies and some gamming proposes
