Display/Screen distortion - lines, white/gray space

I have an IdeaPad 710S 13" non-touch laptop that I've had for a little over a month.  Sometimes when I touch the lid/screen - for example, to move the laptop closer or adjust the tilt of the lid, or when opening the lid - the display distorts. Sometimes it is just this one vertical section of the screen (first image below, though sometimes the black areas are white) and other times it is the entire screen with vertical gray lines/sections (second and third pictures below).  I've updated the display driver but that didn't help. I think it happens only(?) when there's some pressure against the screen/lid.  Sometimes closing the lid and opening it back up fixes the issue, but other times I have to reboot to fix it.  Ideas on what's wrong and how to fix it?

Re: Display/Screen distortion - lines, white/gray space

Hi evening,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Check if you would also have same display issue when you have it plugged on an external monitor.

This allows isolating the issue from the shared graphics card or just an issue with the LCD panel and cables.

Movement of the LCD screen at certain angles may stress or lax certain stress point in the connection as angle changes.

Powering the machine using the Novo button or FN + F2 on restart to access BIOS would also differentiate driver or Windows issue from an actual hardware problem thus calling in technical support is best advised for immediate in-warranty repair.

And what do I do when I'm in the BIOS screen? I didn't see anything to choose (there was no option for  a scan or anything like that).

Re: Display/Screen distortion - lines, white/gray space

Hi evening,

Greetings.

The BIOS screen can be inspected for the lines that maybe a little faint in the background.

Since this work outside of Windows, we can say that it has nothing to do with the display drivers but more of a hardware issue. If verified lines appear then call in technical support for in warranty repair.

Regards
