I just bought a new ideapad 500 am trying to install ubuntu 16.04 Lts alongside preloaded windows 10. I have tried various options like disabling secure boot / fast boot / fast start up the USB boot just doesn't seem to work , when I try to boot through UEFI firm ware settings -> efi USB boot I get an error message ' USB boot option Not available' . Please suggest if I can achieve Dual boot ability on my ideapad

I installed Windows 7 in a multiboot arrangement with Windows 10 on my 500-15ISK. Although I have not yet tried installing Linux, I would expect that it too could be installed as part of the multiboot setup. However, the way that I did it won't necessarily match your requirements:
(1) I purchased Terabyte Unlimited's "Bootit Bare Metal" to use as the boot manager and partition imager.
(2) I converted the disk from GPT (Guid Partition Table) to MBR (Master Boot Record).
(3) I changed the BIOS to "Legacy Support" and "Legacy First", and changed the BIOS boot order to: external USB, internal DVD, hard disk.
(4) The consequence of (2) and (3) is that "Secure Boot" is disabled. That may or may not matter to you.
