Easy Camera not working on my 710S-13IKB Laptop (ideapad)

Easy Camera in my new Lenovo Ideapad Laptop is not working. I noticed this when I wanted to use Skype and also the "Camera" application. When this application is started, the 0xA00F4271(0x8070001) error code is shown.

After spending a lot of time (trying various solutions from web, downloading and re-installing the driver, etc.), the camera started to work for one day and on the next day, the same story.

What to do?

Please try with those steps to check we can resolve your issue.

 

Method 1: Windows Store Apps troubleshooter

Run Windows Store Apps Troubleshooter. 

 

Method 2: Hardware and devices troubleshooter

 

Follow these steps to run Hardware and Devices troubleshooter.

a. Type troubleshooting in the search bar and open it.

b. Click on view all on the left pane.

d. Run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter and follow the on-screen instructions.

 

Method 3: Install Driver in Compatibility mode

I would suggest you to install the latest webcam driver in compatibility mode by following the steps below and check if the issue persists.

 

1. Right-click on the setup file of the driver and select "Properties".         

2. Select "Compatibility" Tab.   

3. Place a check mark next to "Run this program in Compatibility mode" and select the appropriate
    operating system  from the drop  down list.   

4. Let the driver install and then check the functionality

I tried everything you suggested, but nothing worked - like all other similar proposals found in the forum.

 

Our IKT guy solved the problem in seconds: in the device manager he simply removed the driver for the Lenovo Easy Camera. He just clicked the box "remove" that appear when the option "remove driver" is selected. So, if you look at the "properties", everything is the same as before with the exception of the driver which is now "Realtek, version 10.0.10586.11219" - I guess the generic driver (the generic driver was suggested already by some other forum users, but with the installation - upadting procedure). At the same time, he prevented the system of (I do not how exactly how - in fact I know that he removed the application Lenovo settings (or something like this), but maybe he did also something else) authomatic installation of the Lenovo Easy Camera driver when the system rebooted.

 

I think Lenovo guys should seriously think about solving the problem with their Easy Camera driver - obviously there is plenty of complains with this issue around.

 

Otherwise I am really very satisfied with my Ideapad 710s, with the exception of extremely low quality Lenovo suport service. Their support site is not really informative and it is very hard to find things you want to, and some do not work. Just an example: I forgot the password for the forum and it took hours and hours that I got an e-mail to reset the password, but meanwhile, the reset option got expired !!???

Hi markoles3, 

 

I just like to ask did you try to disable the privacy option for the camera in Lenovo settings? This is a feature on Lenovo Settings that disables the camera when enabled. This feature allows you to control the camera, just in case app's automatically starts using it.

Also at my computer is still not completely OK. Usually it is so that after switching on the computer the camera does not work. Then, I try this for several times (the applications "camera" and "skype"), sometimes I remove the (now Realtek) driver which is then authomatically applied again, and after some tries the camera starts working. It is not ideal and it is annoying, but at least I usually make it working after some tries.

I have to dissapoint you. I have decided for the most annoying solution: the computer is at the official lenovo service and meanwhile I am trying to survive without my computer. Some other experts tried all kinds of solutions (various drivers etc.) but the camera is not stable - for instance it works for 3 hours and then it is crushed... So, on their advice I sent the computer to be repaired. It might be that there are some hardware problems - like some bad connections or that there is something wrong with the camera.

I will insist to have a computer that works completely and ordinary - I need the camera and the computer is under warranty.

I will make a report when something new is known.
