Edge 15 80H1 - Display problem after upgrade to windows 10

My Lenovo Edge 15 80H1 came with Windows 8. Recently the hard drive failed. So I replaced the drive and insalled Windows 10.

Now the display is really weird. The screen that I am on is visible but there seems to be several other screens behind it. It seems that they are screens that I had opened previously. This also happens when the system starts up. I can see multiple screens, one behind the other being displayes behind the start screen. Aslo, the colors are not real. The screen seems to have sheets of pink color over a majority of the dispplay. I feel that this must be related to the display or the graphic drivers but I am not sure. I am not sure if the original drivers are compatible with Windows 10.

Does anyone know a solution to this problem?

Welcome to the Community Forums.

 

You can try installing compatible Windows 10 drivers from the support site manually. You may also use Lenovo Vantage to automatically update all needed drivers and apps for Windows 10 intended for your computer.

 

Update us how it goes.

Thank you for your suggestions. I did install and ran Lenovo Vantage. I was informed that my drivers are current.

As a result, I connected the lap-top to my TV via an HDMI cable and the TV display was normal but the display on the lap-top still had a bunch of overlaping pages.

At this point I am not sure if this problem is still a driver issue or a hardware issue. I am not sure if Lenovo Vantage is thorough enough to check all of the drivers, even the driver for the computer's screen. I could check for an updated driver for the display but I am not sure how to identify the display driver that is installed on the lap-top.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi rtotari,

 

Greetings.

 

With a working external display, issue is leaning more on the built-in display/ LCD assembly (cable/port) and not the driver. The issue may not be a software.

 

Having it running with Windows 8 with compatible drivers from the support site, would isolate it more if OS/drivers related. The way I see it, best to reseat the LCD cable if it can be corrected else if same screen shows in the BIOS then it is a probable hardware issue.

Thank you for you help. Problem has been resolved. Per your earlier recommendation, I found instruction on Microsoft's site to uninstall the display driver. Then after power reset, I used Windows update to re-install the display driver.

Now, the system is working perfectly.
