Flex 14 - Keyboard not working on Lenovo Laptop.

My laptop keyboard (Flex 14-Ideapad) not working. When I use wireless keyboard it works in a bizarre way.

I have tried following :

1) Removed the battery & unplugged laptop. Pressed power button for more than 30 s.

2) Onscreen keyboard working in same bizarre way like wireless keyboard.

3) From Control Panel, selected Ease of Access Centre, than selected Ease of keyboard use & unchecked all check boxes.

4) From login of laptop, selected Ease of access centre & unchecked use of laptop keyboard.

All the above things are not working.

Kindly advise.

Re: Flex 14 - Keyboard not working on Lenovo Laptop.

Hello Ismailsm

Thanks for using the Lenovo forums.

Try running an LSC scan, see if this is able to find anything for you

1. Please click on the following link

2. Under the section ‘Download’ select the relevant Hyperlink dependant on whether your Lenovo is running Windows 7/8/8.1 32 bit or 64 bit.
3. When prompted, select save and browse to a drive and directory in which to save the downloaded files.
4. Navigate to the folder where you saved the installation file, lscsetup_x86_26001.exe.
5. Double-click the installation file icon to start the installation.
6. Follow the onscreen instructions via the installation wizard that will install Lenovo Solution Centre on your system.
7. Once installed you will have a ‘Lenovo Solution Centre’ icon on your desktop please click to open this.
8. Once solution center is opened please select ‘Checkup’ then ‘Hardware Scan’ and ‘Full Scan’
9. This will take up to 20 minutes, see if this can find any errors.

Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.

Re: Flex 14 - Keyboard not working on Lenovo Laptop.

Thanks Krakken. I tried before the following :
1) Did System Update & Driver Update.

2) Also did Hardware Diagnostic at pcsupport.lenovo.com & all the components are perfect.

I wanted to edit my post but did not knew how to edit & hence did not mentioned the above. Anyway, will try LCS. Also, wanted to try uninstalling Keyboard Driver, reboot & reinstall driver if not automatically installed by windows on startup, but don't know how to uninstall.
Finally, would request to reply as soon as possible.

Re: Flex 14 - Keyboard not working on Lenovo Laptop.

Dear Krakken,
Installed LCS for Windows 10 (64 bit) & did full Hardware Scan (Ref. Code : W16W4NJBK-84Z3P5). No problems were found.

Re: Flex 14 - Keyboard not working on Lenovo Laptop.

Even tried for starting in SAFE MODE by clicking Shift & Power button & than restart. From the list selected TROUBLESHOOT than ADVANCED OPTIONS than STARTUP SETTINGS than RESTART.
I should have got options list like to press F4/4 or F5 / 5 but unfortunately I did not get any options list?

Re: Flex 14 - Keyboard not working on Lenovo Laptop.

Got solved automatically.
Last week, since I had no option, I was continously trying to start in Safe Mode to see if Keyboard working in Safe Mode which before when I tried I was unable to get needed options after restarting in Safe Mode (it used to restart normally).
So, instead of selecting Troubleshooting option, I selected OTHER than in that 'Previous Version'. It asked me for password, I thought it would take me to Windows 8.1 version & tried to skip it by forcefully Shutting down several times. I was able to skip it.
Today, after 1 week, when I started my laptop it restarted immediately & was normal like before.
I assume it would have been some Windows 10 update problem as today I received feedback notification how you are likely to recommend Windows 10 to others & whether there was any problem recently with listed options like hardware, networks, bluetooth etc. I found that now Cortana has been added in Indian version of Windows 10.

Re: Flex 14 - Keyboard not working on Lenovo Laptop.

Lenovo Flex 3 1580   80R4

Original HD with W10 was replaced with SSD and W7 installed. Worked perfect for 6 month.

Keyboard was stopping working. Sometimes restart was helping but most of the time didn’t.

Tried everything except reinstalling OS’s on HD’s:

Disconnecting Batteries

Starting in Safe Mode

Updating/changing Keyboard driver

Replacing SSD with original

Etc.

Nothing helped! I was really mad and about to throw it away!

Finally, helped reconnection of small keyboard cable! Making sure it was connected well. Previous reconnection of big cable didn’t help. Recalled drop of the laptop before problem started.

Now back to SSD. Works well now for more than one month with all of the moves and drops including the travel across the Atlantic and drops at all of the checkpoints.

Re: Flex 14 - Keyboard not working on Lenovo Laptop.

Had the same issue, I ended up calling Lenovo support. What Tech Support had me do and solved the issue for me was shut down the computer. Then hold the power button for 20 seconds. Then there's a rainbow arrow icon next to a reset type of button near the power button. Using a safety pin, press that button for 3 seconds. That starts the computer to the BIOS setup screen. Press the F9 button to set the BIOS back to the defaults and press F10 to save the settings. The computer will reset and the keyboard seemed to be working back to normal like it had been.

I hope this helps others in the future.

Re: Flex 14 - Keyboard not working on Lenovo Laptop.

I was having the same issue until I found out how to fix it! Here’s what I did “enable” the keyboard!

1. Pull up “SETTINGS” on your laptop.

2. Then select “TOUCHPAD” within settings.

3. Once inside “TOUCHPAD”, click on “ADDITIONAL SETTINGS” located on the right side of screen, about half way down.

4. After clicking on “ADDITIONAL SETTINGS”, a box will pop up that will display “MOUSE PROPERTIES”. Within that pop-up box, click on the “DEVICE SETTINGS” tab.

5. Once in “DEVICE SETTINGS” tab, you’ll see a list of your Synaptics Pointing Devices inside a box labeled “DEVICES”. Below that box, you should see three choices to choose from; Enable, Disable, & Settings. Click on the box labeled “ENABLE”. Then click “APPLY” to save your changes.

6. Lastly, click on “OK” to exit!

7. Now, test your keyboard to ensure that it’s  working now!
