Flex 15 in-built volume control causing issues

My Flex 15's in-built volume control that rests on the right hand side never worked correctly to begin with.

This was a small issue and it did not bother me in the slightest as the rest of the laptop worked perfectly.

Now however it is causing a big issue.

Here is a link to a post that describes the problem in detail on tom's hardware --> http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-2253230/volume-slider-notification-disappear-volume-stuck.h...

Essentially I just want to know if there's a way to disable this control as I'm almost certain it's the root of the problem.

Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

Re: Flex 15 in-built volume control causing issues

Sounds like your volume rocker switch is stuck. If it is under warranty, I'd send it in. If out of warranty, you can try tapping the volume down button repeatedly to try and release it. The buttons are usually wired directly into the APU, not as a peripheral device that can be disabled.
