I recently purchase a 4gb upgrade for my Flex 2-14 and since plugging into second slot - wouldn’t start up. I could hear hard drive and see keyboard light up but no monitor. I went ahead and bought another identical one from Crucial after a friendly “compatibility chat.” Both 4gb DDR3L 1600 SODIMM 1.35V CL11 (CT51264BF160B.C16FN2). Same deal. I’ve removed all screws, keyboard and swapped around combinations and both work in main slot, but nothing works in second. All had been very securely clicked in. I’ve upgraded chipset and also am running Win10 Upgrade 64bit. Nothing in bios seems to allow modification for ram upgrade. Help? I will personally send you a Starbucks card if this gets solved! Thank you.

Welcome to the Community Forums.
If even the known working rams (original and new) would not work on the second slot, then maybe try checking on the second slot for good contacts. Air can blowers and physical pin inspection may help.

Could you take a picture of the label of new memory?
Sample memory(not yours).
Download CPUZ from here.
Post a screenshot of the SPD tab showing OEM memory specs.

Well I don’t see anything x... I do notice the click in hardware has a 1.5v stamp and my ram says 1.35. I’ll try to upload again. It didn’t like my pic from iPhone last time.

Disregard the "x8" check.
Picture came through showing new stick label.
You can use windows snipping tool to capture CPUZscreen shot.
Dust removal is 1st step, as Spidey101 stated.

Thank you both. I went back in and dusted and blew it out - put the 2nd chip in second slot all while sleeping, which to my surprise did not block the screen and it woke back up. So I am functioning now to write this, however the second chip is not recognized even after a (soft?) reboot. If I startup from completely shut down, the black screen remains. I was able to get info on slot #1 and #2 from the CPUZ, but still can't shut down and start up to function with chip in 2nd slot.

Check if you have an updated BIOS and chipset from the support website without the second ram.
Set the laptop power option to full performance.
Disable any hybrid mode/ fast start up on the advance setting including sleep.
Fully shut down and try the second ram.
As you have described, there was a change after physically cleaning the slot that can lead to probable hardware issue with the second slot. You can try checking the slot again making sure that the contacts are good.
Update us how things go.

To supplement what you see, and my/Spidey101 comments:
(1)CPUZ can see both of your new memory sticks, with different serial numbers.
Dust removal step over.
(2) No new BIOS on your support page.
(3) Yes, 3 CHIPSET items on your support page. You can easily install the items.
(4) Sleep items. I awaited Spidey101 response. A simple adjustment to this may work.
On the way way far end is windows update is occuring and PC awakes in dead/sleep mode. <pay no respect to this at this time.
I think your memory selection, new and old are just fine/peachy. I think that memory clip slot 2, 1.5V is Junk. You dont see this in slot1. Why are the 2 clips not both plastic?
Did you buy your machine Lenovo or spare parts used(walmart, best buy, sears, etc).?
Certainly nothing against you. Your yellow circles were noted.
You could watch the training video/memory.
Both slots plastic.
I think sleep adjustments for now might work chipset software updates. You have a good EYE, and thank YOU for that good eye and great CPUZ pics.
It is sad Lenovo does not have release notes(.txt) for notebooks, ie chipsets/BIOS. CHEAP is as cheap does.
A user spent more money for 2nd great memory stick, not needed.
Lenovo needs to state: our version or the walmart version.
Spidey101 can better explain. And Spidey101 employer is??
Spidey is great. But does Spidey shop at walmart with 2-14 Flex spare parts used?
