Flex 2 15 AC 3160 poor WLAN

2014-09-30, 9:54 AM

My convertible ( W 8.1 64 ) suffers from poor WLAN performance no matter what I try. Other clients ( Mobiles, tablets, desktops on same access point work perfectly) / wired connection is OK ( so I assume network settings / proxy config are OK as well )

connects immediately to AP but 'spinning wheel' when browsing or very low download rate if at all

- updated lenovo download driver to newest Intel (17.1..)

- disabled HT in properties ( this sometimes cures)

- restart after power off  ( this sometimes cures for a while )

- disabling / endabling interface ( this sometimes cures for a while

Is there something I probably missed to configure or must I assume a bad card / antenna connection needing replacement by lenovo ?

BtW: after restarting from energy saving mode / standby I sometimes see yellow exclamation mark in device status. reinstalling driver returns device functioning

There are so many topics on this subject (bad WLAN performance) on this forum you will have probably missed some ...

Which Intel WLAN card do you have (N or AC)?

First thing I would try is to go back to the latest Lenovo certified drivers.

Sorry, I hit the wrong key. Not resolved.  Problem first appeared with original drivers. Have updated headline to mention model of laptop and intel card descrition (thought I had done that first place)

Looks like issues went away after manually updating Intels driver package to 17.13.11.5.
