Flex 3 Wifi issues after windows update

Hello I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing wifi issues. Windows decided to update itself and for 2 days everything worked well but now the wifi simply does not work. Windows seems to detect my network for about 1 minute then it drops all connections and wont see the wifi card at all. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated

Re: Flex 3 Wifi issues after windows update

Hi there, Jay -

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

I solved the problem by selecting Maximum Performance in the Power Options->Advanced Settings->Wireless Adapter Settings and unchecking the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" setting in the Power Management tab for the Wireless Adapter in Device Manager.

Also, you may try updating the Wi-Fi drivers.

Update us how it goes.

Re: Flex 3 Wifi issues after windows update

This didn't work. I don't have an option for wireless adapter in my device manager. I changed the performance to maximum in the battery settings but this did nothing. My computer connects to a known network but only 1 and it says "no internet" under that network. There are other networks in my area that my computer no longer sees.

Re: Flex 3 Wifi issues after windows update

You updated the wifi driver and it didnt work?

Try this:

open Device Manager,
click Network Adapters arrow
right click on your wifi adapter
select Properties

select the Power Management tab
De-select "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"

Re: Flex 3 Wifi issues after windows update

Thanks for the info Mel. But in addition to this,

Also, Download the BIOS update utility, and install it, then this problem will be solved.

Re: Flex 3 Wifi issues after windows update

I didn't update anything. It was the windows update that did something with the drivers. Now my computer doesn't even see the wifi adapter in device manager

Re: Flex 3 Wifi issues after windows update

If you can't seem to find any. Possible that the wireless Device is disabled

Method 1:

Try entering BIOS

Tapping F2 or FN+F2 while powering up the unit.

Once Booted to BIOs

Go under Configurations and Check if the Wireless there is enabled.

Once Enabled tap F10 to Save and Exit

Boot to Windows and download and install the Driver I provided for the Wireless

Method 2:

Removed the CMOS battery (round battery on the motherboard which holds information for the motherboard when PC is switched off). See HMM
Went out for a few hours.
Replace the battery and rebooted. I had to change the boot sequence in the BIOS to make sure that the hard drive with Windows on it was the first device that the BIOS looked for.

Method 3:

If you haven't any warranty any more. You can try it to remove the WiFi-Adapter and boot into windows without it. After that I turned the power off, installed the WiFi-Adapter and boot into windows.

Re: Flex 3 Wifi issues after windows update

Nothing worked and the keyboard died before I could do the last method described. Aside from the screen issues I have (described in another post), I've had trackpad issues, windows update issues where it's kills drivers, wifi issues, and now the keyboard has died on me. The laptop is less than 6 months olds and I've had more issues on this laptop than anything I've ever owned. If I could return it, I would. Now my laptop is on its way to a warehouse to get fixed via the manufacture warranty and hopefully the next laptop won't be a total piece of crap. Thanks to everyone that has helped me
