Flex 3 plugged in, won't charge

I have no idea what's going on. It was fine and then just says "plugged in, not charging". I only got this about a month ago. Wanted to see if anyone knows of something I can do from home to save the hassle of driving a few towns over to the warantee place.

Re: Flex 3 plugged in, won't charge

The battery on this machine is not intended to be removed, or so I've gathered from both the physical evidence of there being no way to do that without removing the entire back of the computer, and responses to other threads on similar problems here in the forums.

Trying the BIOS dealio now, as I've already turned the computer off and on.

Re: Flex 3 plugged in, won't charge

Can you check power management for if there is any battery reset option?

Re: Flex 3 plugged in, won't charge

No, there isn't a reset option, or I haven't been able to locate it yet. BIOS and other tips for anything but the Flex 3 1580 probably isn't going to work. The BIOS file linked to, upon attempt to install, gives an error message that it won't work with my machine. It does have an option to continue anyway, but I'm not sure my warantee is going to cover me screwing up my software.

Re: Flex 3 plugged in, won't charge

None of that worked and some were flat out impossible, like removing the battery. The Flex 3 battery isn't removable. At this point it's at 9% charge as well.

Re: Flex 3 plugged in, won't charge

Based from your findings, it's possible that:

- The battery circuit inside is not working to unload the charge, or

- One of the battery cells have already reached its life span

- the chip that handles how the battery gets charge/discharge and checks the charge level of each battery cell (both are controlled by a firmware) is malfunctioning.

Batteries degrade overtime due to heat and daily use. If you're still under warranty, i would suggest you to visit the nearest authorised Lenovo authorised support for hardware assistance.

Re: Flex 3 plugged in, won't charge

My computer is doing the same thing. however, my battery was replaced under warranty in the spring of 2016 sooo, couldn't be battery life?

Re: Flex 3 plugged in, won't charge

Mine is supposed to be new too according to the dealer. It's also all of a sudden saying the warranty is expired even though it was supposed to be a new warranty.
