Flex 4 mouse and keyboard

Several topics are dedicated to similar problems, but none seem to be identicsl to what i'm experiencing.

A while ago, my flex4 14in , barely a month old, started to act funny: during startup, keyboard and mouse stop working...

I've tried resetting my pc, once keeping my files and once removing them, and the same thing happened: after a couple of days of working fine, keyboard and mouse would stop working and the computer starts up in portrait mode...

please help Smiley Happy

Re: Flex 4 mouse and keyboard

Hi there, Yoko                        -

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

You can also start by flushing out all static, remove battery and AC adaptor and hold down power button for about 15 seconds.

Update us how it goes.

Re: Flex 4 mouse and keyboard

Hey,

Please excuse my ignorance:

How do I flush static out?

Do I hold power button while the machine is off or on?

My battery is non-removable...

Thank you!

1- Power off the machine

2- Remove the charger

3- Hold the power button down for 15 sec

Re: Flex 4 mouse and keyboard

How did you perform the software reset?

Did you go into recovery screen and do a reset or you did a recovery to an old restore point?

Have you tried downloading the drivers from Lenovo website?

Here is the link -

Check your warranty, phone numbers etc here -

http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/contactus

Call them and ask for repair. They cannot charge for a hardware failure.

Update us how it goes.

Re: Flex 4 mouse and keyboard

I did it from the settings of the PC,

Erasing all data

No I didn't download drivers, how do I do that?

And it's probably not a hardware thing since the mouse and keyboard actuallly work for the first few seconds before I insert my password, then they stop working and the PC goes into portrait mode, plus that o ly happened a few days after the reset

Anyways, where exactly can I download the drivers from? And which drivers should I download?

Re: Flex 4 mouse and keyboard

Good morning,

I don't know how, but when I turned my laptop on a few minutes ago, it seems to work fine regarding the keyboard and mouse ,I didn't even have to download the drivers..

thanks a lot!! I hope it stays functional Smiley Happy

but, the second issue remains, the computer starts up in portrait mode,

I can fix that from the settings by locking rotation, but that's only a partial solution.

I can't automatically change modes by flipping the screen, and it won't change automatically to tablet/stand/tent mode : It doesn't even ask me if I want to change modes even if the settings tell it to do so... any help ? Smiley Very Happy

Re: Flex 4 mouse and keyboard

To fix the above rotation issue, proceed with the following:

Search for Local Services. Open this.

Scroll down to Sensor Monitoring Service and double click on this option.

Check if the Startup Type had been set to Manual. Change this to Automatic.

Restart your Flex.

Also, try using the following key combination; Ctrl + Alt + [arrow up], or the other arrow keys.

Update us how it goes.
