Graphic card issues on ideapad FLEX 4-1580

I just received this machine (from Costco https://www.costco.com/Lenovo-Flex-4-Series-2-in-1-Touchscreen-Laptop---Intel-Core-i7---2GB-Graphics...) in the mail and it's been a mess to get set up in regards to the graphics.  It has an integrated Intel HD Graphics 620 card and a dedicated 2GB AMD Radeon R7 M460 Graphics card.  I have two main issues:

  1. I keep getting a BSOD related to dxgmmm2.sys when the Radeon card is enabled.  I found the computer is stable and working just fine when it's disabled.  I've tried installing a new/updated driver but I have to enable the driver to do that (then the BSOD comes within seconds of the computer accessing it).
  2. The Intel card does not output any image to the third monitor I have connected via a USB/VGA adapter.  Though the machine recognizes it and allows windows to move off into that monitor, there is no picture.  The monitor is on, connected, and works properly.  It flashes when I start up the computer and make changes to the display.  I've also done a factory reset on the monitor a couple of times to no avail.

Any ideas how I can get this running correctly?

Re: Graphic card issues on ideapad FLEX 4-1580

Hello Abarrera12

Thanks for using the Lenovo forums.

Try to download the Video and Chipset drivers for the unit from the support page.

Make sure to reboot after an update on the unit.

Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.

I just gave it another try with no luck.  I was able to download and install both the Intel and the AMD drivers from the Lenovo Support Site.  I reenabled the Switchable Graphics and got the same BSOD error.

Re: Graphic card issues on ideapad FLEX 4-1580

My best advice would be to try uninstalling your Directx and reinstall it. Two of the three errors you are getting are DX files, since they seem to be affecting both of the graphics cards, we can most likely rule out a hardware issue. Sounds like corrupted files.

Update us how it goes.

Re: Graphic card issues on ideapad FLEX 4-1580

In some desperation, I "reset my pc" to its original Windows settings and I think it's resolved the major issues.

Since I have two other monitors connected to this machine for work, I've had to keep tinkering with it.  I found my USB to VGA adapter (once the drivers installed) would cause the system to crash.  I've since purchased a USB to HDMI and it works without crashing.

I still find that the Intel Graphics Control Panel will not recognize the third monitor though it's installed and managed by the Windows Display Settings. Also, the Intel Graphics Control Panel will crash each time I select the "Options and Support" button on the dashboard.

At this point, I'm good with how it's running (though not perfect).  Thank you for your help.
