Continuing with this new lappy, purchased Friday 27th October. I notice the warranty of this laptop was started on 6th JULY 2017 and expires 3rd SEPTEMBER indicates that it's been registered by someone else??? I purchased this from Argos (in the UK) and, in the past have been ASSURED that any electrical items that have been returned are NOT returned to the shelf for resale. Should I be concerned with this?

I was about to post about the same thing. I purchased my new laptop 510s in Sept 2017 from Argos and it states on my system that my warranty runs out in March 2018 which is not a years guarantee is it!! I am worried that it has been preowned too and that it will affect us returning it under warranty once our stated system date passes. Plus I am not happy to spend a lot of money on something that has potentailly already been used and returned for some reason. The first one I brought I returned as it had a slight crack at the back of the case and I must admit that that laptop did look like it had been returned as it had fingerprints on the screen and didn't seem new to me. I never used that laptop as noticed the crack before setting it up. The replacement laptop however did seem new.
Is there a helpline number to call for Lenovo? Might be an easier option. I will keep you posted as will try and call them tomorrow.
I will try and call the helpline, is there an actually helpline to call?

I can't address your specific situations, but if a laptop has been sitting in a retialer's inventory before being sold, that can reduce the apparent remaining warranty period. The warranty "clock" typically starts running at date of manufacture.
There is a mechanism for correcting this:
Of course, this presumes that your machines are actually new, so you may wish to verify that first.

This would depend on your retailer, you would have to get in touch with you have purchased the unit from, and get them to confirm wheter the unit is refurbished one or not.
However this is usually specified in the description of the unit, so if they have not mentioned it, then it is likely not refurbished.
Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.

I am so sorry I've just seen your message. This IdeaPad has become a NIGHTMARE, not always typing when Cap lock is on; not opening files and getting the message 'working on it' and it never opens; the start button has started to have the small blue ring turning and the ONLY way I can power off the thing is by holding down i/o. NOT good! I've posted on the Forum and hope to get some answers.
