My ideapad 500-15isk is equiped whit a 128 GB SSd and has no optical drive.
I'm wondering if i can place a HDD-Caddy and put a 1TB drive in it, since there is not an optical drive in this laptop.
On the seller's homepage it says: The caddy comes with 1pcs flat Standard faceplate , and it is not an exact match. All buyers need to remove their optical drive's faceplate to attach onto caddy for proper working. Any other accessories like Mounting Bracket or ejector latch will not included. Please take it from optical drive to re-use.
This is to get to get it to work properly
Also, i read that some people have troubles to get the laptop to recognize the HDD Caddy.
I really need to know for sure if it works before i order the caddy and the HDD.
Anyone has any expierence with this option and specific laptop?

Welcome to the Community Forums.
ODD caddy would not work for your 80NT00KNMH as I checked with the parts lookup page here.
You are missing the ODD board and cable similar to those here (under card misc internal).
Part number 5C50J23540 / 5C50J23560 ODD Board C Z51-70 NBKL and bezel
This has been done but like what you have read also from fellow community members post here (amaltom61), success is not that optimistic.
Hope this helps answer your query.

spidey101, Thanks for your answer.
If i can order, Part number 5C50J23540 / 5C50J23560 ODD Board C Z51-70 NBKL and bezel.
I should be able to put an Caddy with HDD in the space of the optical drive and get it to work.
And i also keep the wifi module or do it have to remove it because of the ADD Board.
I have a spare small capicity HDD,
It is worth the try for my if there is a chance to succes.
Hdd caddy are cheap to buy form china, so i wouldn't be a big loss of mony te experiment.

Although choosing the right caddy seems to be a challenge (like here), with an ODD SATA board and cable you can fit in a caddy for an HDD.
Checking with the hardware manual (here on page 54-55), try to verify the ODD board slot to fit in the cable on the board. It lies close with the Wifi card but does not necessarily lose the card to connect the ODD board as shown below.
Again, it is a challenge but possible.
Just take one step at a time and check on the costing for the upgrade which ever is practical.
Else you may simply upgrade the SSD to 1TB or 2TB for more storage as offered by crucial even if OEM recommendation is 256GB. Just get a return option just in case.

Thanks again for you help Spidey101.
I'm willing to go for a little challenge.
I've been fiddling around with deskyop pc's in the past, but never with laptops before.
I can find, and import the ODD Board on Ebay, but i didn't figure out a way to purchace it form Lenovo (EU/Netherlands), yet.
I asume that, if i can get a bezzel from any optical drive that would be compatible with this laptop, or order it from Lenovo, it shouln't be to much of a problem to solve.
I really want to use an extra HDD next to the original SSD.
Replacing the SSD for a model of at least 500GB is too expensive.
Replacing the SSD for a regular HDD is a big decrease in performance for me.
I'm going to try to get the components via the internet or better by Lenovo.
