Re: Help on a factory reset

Hello there!

I have a question concerning performing a factory reset on my ideapad 320

when I first booted it up (got it from store, brand new) it had lenovo programs (such as lenovo vantage) pre-installed
if I were to perform a factory reset, would these programs be wiped as well? or would they remain on there?

thank you, in advance

A factory reset will return the laptop to the state it was in when it was shipped from the factory, so it will include the pre-installed Lenovo drivers and applications, but it won't include any of your data files or any of the applications that you have installed.

It is a good idea to create a "Windows Recovery Drive" on a USB memory stick (16GB or larger). Type "Recovery" in the Windows 10 search box and you should find the relevant panel.

The Windows Recovery drive allows you to re-install the Lenovo version of Windows 10 (i.e. including all of the Lenovo drivers and applications). You might need to do this if you have a disk failure after the warranty has expired.

In contrast, if you download a Windows 10 install image from Microsoft, it will install and activate without problem, but it will not contain any of the Lenovo drivers or applications.
