I'm having an issue with my IdeaPad 100S 11IBY where these keys only (SHIFT a s d f j k l ; \) are not working (left and right brackets are fine).
I have done the following:
Any ideas out there?

Welcome to the Community Forums.
After those steps that you already tried, I think you can check if the issue is with the hardware.
Using an external keyboard that works with those keys, and further testing it in the BIOS from the password creation (only for testing but cancel it as our purpose is just to test asdfjkl). Having those keys failing with adjacent other keys then probability of hardware failure is high.
You may need to call in technical support for in warranty repair.
Hope this help answer your query.

Yes, I had used plugged in a USB keyboard and all the keys work fine.
I went into the BIOS to try the keys there but couldn't find a field to test.
I have now contacted Tech support and have secured a warranty return through Best Buy.
Thank you so much for your quick reply...

I have the same problem on a 100s. On the 2nd row of characters (starting with 'A') only 'G' and 'H' work. The odd thing is that if I disconnect then reconnect the battery, all the keys are fine, until some time later (maybe after logging out then in again) the problem returns. It seems that it is not a fault in the keyboard itself, but perhaps somewhere in the software. A USB keyboard works, but the really bizarre thing is that plugging in the USB keyboard makes the 100s keyboard work again, and it continues to work after the USB plug is unplugged! So a solution is to carry around a USB keyboard to plug and unplug whenever the problem arises. Very funny. By now surely Lenovo knows what causes this fault. Since the USB trick fixes it, there must be an even simpler trick.
This device is not on warranty. I think the warranty period was finely judged...
