This is a pretty old and known problem for Lenovo laptops. My old one from 2011 had just the same problem as my new one. The issue is that touchpad behaves badly only from time to time, like for a minute every hour. If I leave it be for this period of time, next time I touch it, all is fine and movement of the cursor is usual.
Does anybody know a ready solution for IdeaPad 510? Is it drivers? I have found just some mentioning of motherboard drivers, but updating them made no progress. Maybe there is a known set of drivers that were seen to fix the issue?
Thanks for the help!

Thanks for using the Lenovo forums.
You could try touchpad and chipset drivers, should be able to find them on the support page:
Also, Try a static discharge for this, it may help to resolve the issue or at least get rid of any built up static on the motherboard.
(If the battery is internal, please just skip the remove/replace battery steps.)
1. Turn the unit off
2. Remove the battery and the Mains adapter
3. Press and hold the front power button for 30 seconds
4. Replace the battery and the Mains adapter
5. Turn the unit on as normal
Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.
