I ordered my IdeaPad L340 Gaming (81LK000XUS) with just a solid state drive, thinking I could plug in an existing internal 1TB laptop HDD at the same time instead of purchasing a new one. After talking with tech support, it appears my laptop does support this feature, but the cable to connect from the motherboard to a second harddrive was not included. Based on the parts list for the laptop, I belive I would need part 5C10S29927 (a "HDD Cable L 81LK") and an appropriate casing (part 5B40S21897, a "HDDBracketL81LGH").
The Encompass site has no stock for either item (possibly because I am in Canada?), so I was wondering if there was some other way to obtain the cable and casing? Third Party sellers seem to be selling similar looking cables, but the exact model is nowhere to be found.

Are you certain that your motherboard actually has a second HDD connector?
The cable would be wrong either way because it would just put the SATA port out where the original SATA SSD is, you would need a different cable.

Based on my discussions with tech support, yes there is a small port for a ribbon cable under my SSD labeled HDD1 that can be used to connect an HDD with the cable shown in my intial post (I have also confirmed that this port exists). I’m just not sure where to obtain that cable.

This is a German company which apparently specialises in selling original Lenovo parts, but their shipping costs to Canada are obscene if you don't want uninsured post shipment and expect a package instead. They are the only webpage (out of 4 Google results) that seems to sell them, so they might be your best bet.

Yup, even on the Lenovopartsale webpage, that part number does not show up.

I bought one of those cables online and it didn't end up working. I used one designed for the Legion line of laptops. It has the same pins and everything but had no luck.

Sorry to hear that but I appreciate the confirmation, since I was going to do this, too. I’m going to wait for Encompass to restock and ship the part, will keep this topic updated.
