Ideapad 100-15IBD Laptop, HDMI not registering external display

Hi there,

I cannot get my Ideapad 100-15IBD with a Intel Core i5-5200U cpu and Nvidia 920M to register my new ASUS VG245H 24 inch monitor via the HDMI port.

Link to ASUS VG245H

I have updated the bios, the chipset, and used the graphics driver (which is not the latest from Nvidia) on Lenovo's support site for the model, and still with no luck. Windows10 does not register the external monitor through the HDMI port when pressing 'Register under Display Properties when right clicking the Desktop.

I have also gone into the Intel HD Graphics 5500 adapter and tried to see if I had to 'unlock' more screens but all it is set to is Integrated screen with no possibility to change it to more screens.

I have also run Intel's Driver Support Assistant to see if I had some drivers out of date, but is says that all is up to date (see attached image).

What I am doing wrong? Or is the HDMI broken?

Thank you for any help.

/ThorJ

Hello ThorJ

Thanks for using the Lenovo forums.

As per a previous post on this issue:

@Shashi_Lenovo wrote:

From your findings, it does look like there's a problem with the HDMI port or with the HDMI cable.

Things that you can try:

  1. Try the HDMI cable on another PC and ensure it’s firmly connected to rule it out as the possible culprit.

From your findings, it does look like there's a problem with the HDMI port or with the HDMI cable.

If the problem remains, last thing that you can do is to press the OneKey Recovery button to restore the unit to factory settings (ensure you backup important files). If problem remains after that then it's definitely a problem with the port

Re: Ideapad 100-15IBD Laptop, HDMI not registering external display

hello

after  i check   all ( install  and deinstall drivers and many others),   i try all(many backups win 10 desinstall etc crazy things),  seems  impossible to make my ideapad 100  to work with tv on hdmi

and after many days  i  discovered the problem  and  i want to share because  many peoples  on diferent forums have the same impossible problem

the body of the computer, i mean the  body   geometry near  hdmi  hole  has  a bad  geometry  (not respect standard geometry for hdmi)so  for  many  hdmi cables   despite their

standard  good  shape  the conection is not ok because it is not plug in till the end (the cable)so computer not recognise the second monitor  and tv said no signal

so all you need is a medium file  and you  polish  the body around hdmi  hole and make a plane surface around

when plug in the cable the plastic body of the cable must not be in touch with computer body must remain at least 0.1 mm gap

this confirm that hdmi cable penetrate till the end

after this   every hdmi cable work perfect

ps :  intel video card 55oo  if there is no connection  said  the only local monitor work  and you can not override manual this or atach second monitor  it will discover  only automaticaly

this was for my ideapad 100
