Ideapad 100-15IBY, Model 80MJ beeps but works fine

Good day!

I have a Lenovo Ideapad 100-15IBY, Model 80MJ.

It works just fine, turns on properly. But almost every day it beeps. Sounds like Bios self test beeps. All kind of combinations, but nothing specific. It happens in different situations like watching movies, browsing the internet, also doing nothing. Beeps and nothing happens.

Lenovo hardware test has found no problems.

Whay it happens? Should I reinstall drivers or what?

Welcome to the Community Forums.

 

Would the laptop beep with or without being plugged in the charger?

Try to check if same beep happens when the speaker is muted or Power beep under configuration BIOS is disabled similar to this article.

 

Beep codes may be different on each model so running additional memory test can help.

While the warranty is up, it would be best to call in technical support so that they would be able to suggest recommendation like stress test done in the depot.

 

Update us how things goes.

Hi spidey101, 

 

The laptop beeps with and without the charger plugged in. And the Power beep is already disabled in BIOS.

 

I used the memory test uou suggested. Came up with these results (in the picture). Does this mean, I really have to contact the warranty service?

 

The beeps are different every time. I get the feeling, they have "told me" about every possible error a laptop could have.

Hi Aliise,

 

I would suggest having it notified with tech support with the findings specially if you already tried resetting Windows.

For now you can back up your personal files just in case and further run system file check with sfc /scannow.

I discovered something new in this situation. This laptop came with Windows 10 and McAfee. I removed the McAfee  couple months ago, but now i found, that there are some McAfee "leftovers" working in the background. I googled and found out that McAfee can make different beeps.

I removed it all. We'll see what happens next.

Greetings.

 

McAfee tools can also be used but I personally use Revo uninstaller for component, folders and registry removal.

Just make sure that you have a replacement protection other than Windows Defender built in on Windows itself.
