Ideapad 100S Keyboard not working

Hi everyone,

My little sister's ideapad 100S was playing up - unfortunately I wasn't really paying attention and just told her to restart it. Now the keyboard is not working as it should. As far as I can tell, the only buttons that are working are I, enter, tab, and the space bar. I've tried the on-screen keyboard and plugged in an external keyboard, and it is exactly the same. Restarting does not help. I cannot log in to check the drivers, etc. There has been nothing spilt on it, nothing downloaded to it - no variables at all, as far as I know.  Any advice?!

Thanks!

Re: Ideapad 100S Keyboard not working

Welcome to the Forums Concora.

  1. Unplug AC adapter (remove from notebook).
  2. Remove main battery
  3. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds (power drain)
  4. Replace main battery
  5. Replace AC adapter

Update us how it goes.

Re: Ideapad 100S Keyboard not working

Has anybody been able to resolve this?

I did a fresh install of Windows 10 on this little IdeaPad. The keyboard and trackpad to not work. NONE of the drivers from Lenovo's site makes them work either......what is the deal?

Re: Ideapad 100S Keyboard not working

I did this too.

If you find that a usb keyboard or mouse works, but not the laptop keyboard or trackpad, plug in a usb mouse and turn on your computer. If you need to log in with a password, click on the "ease of access" icon on the lower right and select the on-screen keyboard, and use it to log in.

Once you're in, click on the jumble of hidden icons at the lower right of your screen. Look for one called "Touchpad Enable." Turn it on and see if it does the trick.

Re: Ideapad 100S Keyboard not working

Check if issue persist in safe mode.

Please check if external keyboard is working.

If the keyboard works fine on the windows login screen, it's probably the Filter keys that's causing your issue not the keyboard driver. Filter keys ignore or slow down brief or repeated keystrokes and adjust keyboard repeat rates. To see if Filter keys is turned ON, check the notification area for Filter Keys:

To turn off Filter Keys, navigate to Control Panel > Ease of Access > Ease of Access Center > Make the keyboard easier to use > uncheckTurn on Filter Keys then hit apply.

Update us how it goes.

Re: Ideapad 100S Keyboard not working

Thanks for the advice... how do you remove the battery on a 100s? It doesn't appear to have one!

Thanks!

Re: Ideapad 100S Keyboard not working

Page #35 of your model's Hardware Maintenance Manual will explain how to remove the battery pack from your computer.  Please keep in mind that opening the back of the computer may void your warranty.  Here is a link to that manual which is English only.

Re: Ideapad 100S Keyboard not working

I use lenovo 100S and have the same keyboard not working problem.

I tried reset the notebook but cannot solve it.

Finally I check from the device manager and found some error marked on the keyboard driver and some hardwares.

Then I update drivers on marked error and restart the notebook, the problem disapeared.

Good luck
