Ideapad 100s weird light.

I have a question.
My Ideapad 100s has just came back from repair.
When it came back, I noticed a light shines through, from the inside of the computer. This is only visible in the dark.
Before the repair, I have used it in the dark before, but I never noticed a light. I just want to know if this is a normal thing or if they did something wrong.

I have had it for less than two months.

Re: Ideapad 100s weird light.

Hi AndrejaVnuk ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Would the last repair have LCD or hinge repairs?

The light most likely are seeping in from the LCD usuallt if the hinges / screws / fillers on LCD (to dampen lights) are not tight or close fitted .

Try to notice for any spaces on the sides and along the bottom if there are evident gap .

How was it when you try to open and close it ?

It would be better to also have technical inform them about the observation to have them further check and likewise  .

Update us how it goes.

Regards

Re: Ideapad 100s weird light.

The repair was on the motherboard (the laptop wouldnt turn on because it didnt get power).
Opening and closing didn't help, there also aren't any gaps.
It may not be visible in the picture, but the light is actually seen through the frame of the computer and is not coming from somewhere else (checked that first).

I took it back today and I'll update on how it goes. Smiley Happy

Re: Ideapad 100s weird light.

Hi AndrejaVnuk ,

Greetings.

Knowing that the there is no gaps and that it's a non LCD hinge issue then it may be polymer frame structure that could have conducted the light.

Facility can examine further on the issue too as they can physically check.

Thanks for the updates.

Regards

Re: Ideapad 100s weird light.

I can't really update on the problem.
They figured out that there's too much to fix (or something?) and they just exchanged it.

Re: Ideapad 100s weird light.

Hi AndrejaVnuk ,

Have you received a replacement of the same model?

Usually light filters or even a cover tape would prevent seeping light from the lcd as there are no essential gaps and the hinges and lcd are secured.

Thanks for getting back to our post , it would help as reference with others that would be having same issue but as of now it may just be an isolated event.

Regards
