Ideapad 110-15ACL Missing optical drive

Hi all.

I have lost the use of my optical drive. As you can see from the attached pic, the icon no longer appears in the 'This PC' folder. It has also disappeared from the list in Device Manager.

Lenovo support suggested using the One Key Recovery option to reset the laptop. Is there any other way to restore the drive without going through this?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Re: Ideapad 110-15ACL Missing optical drive

Hi Escher64,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

I would rather that you check first in the BIOS if the CD-DVD drive is still detected. Turn off the machine and use the Novo button (item 2 page 8) to power on the machine. Choose BIOS set up and the main page should show the drive.

Update us how it goes.

Regards

Hi and thanks for your reply. I've been into the bios and it says drive not installed. Pic attached.

Re: Ideapad 110-15ACL Missing optical drive

Hi Escher64,

There is no need for any factory reset.

I believe that there would not be any reasons for doing factory reset if the BIOS would not see the optical drive.

Mechanically , the systemboard doesn't see it so software most likely won't. Personally, I would reseat the drive from its slot but since the machine is within warranty, just inform the tech support team about this. You may shown our discussion to them if needed.

Either the drive is faulty or the contact have hardware issue.

Update us how it goes.

Regards

Re: Ideapad 110-15ACL Missing optical drive

Hi again and thanks for the advice. Unfortunately the machice is no longer under warrenty so I think the cheapest option would be to purchase an external drive that plugs into the usb port.

Many thanks again for taking the time to help.

Regards.
