Hi there, Imposterous -
Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.
There was a BIOS update for power issue on this model.
I would not however advise you to do it on your own since it may need constant ac connection and we do not want shutdowns to happen during the BIOS update as it may brick the pc.
I would rather have you call in tech support for assistance and back up your important files first for safe keep.

I had the same problem .Whenever i started playing the game the laptop shuts down. I had a configuration of 8gb and 4 gb ram.
After alots of debuging i found out that , the upper ram (the one nearer to GPU ) was causing the issue . I believe its beacuse of the heat of the GPU while playing the game.
After that i removed the ram from the upper slot and now i am using only one ram in below slot . And the issue has gone.
I placed both my ram to the upper slot one after the another to check if it was the slot issue. And to my suprise it was ! Both the ram failed in the upper slot when i started to play Games like COD . But there was no issue when i used only below slot instead of upper one.
So if you are using the upper slot try to use only below slot and check the performance .
I dont know if this is Lenovo's design flaws or my personal laptop problem.
Anyways I hope this solves your problem.
